prevention specialists in the world. J. R. Roberts was awarded the CPS designation in

1988 in an examination in

Detroit, Michigan proctored by Special Agent Joseph Harpold of the Federal Bureau of

investigation. Mr.

Roberts was among the first civilians to be awarded the Crime Prevention Specialist

designation.

Certified Crime Prevention Practitioner

Bestowed by the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Florida, for completion of

a core curriculum of

Statement Analysis is currently used by the NSA, FBI, and a wide variety of International

and local law

enforcement agencies as a valuable investigative tool in deception detection. Statement

Analysis evaluates oral

or written statements for critical and subconscious language shifts which may help

determine evasiveness, or a

lack of candor. Mr. Roberts completed the Alpha Group training through the Florida

Department of Justice

Coordination in 2002 and subsequently has continued advanced study in this area with John

Kaster of the Alpha

Group as well as extensive independent research.

National Crime Prevention Institute

NCPI is operated under the auspices of the United States Department of Justice and is

located on the campus

of the University of Louisville. Mr. Roberts completed the following courses: Crime

prevention, Crime Prevention

between 1990 and

Center for Problem Oriented Policing

With funding from the Department of Justice and located at the University of Wisconsin,

The Center for Problem

J. R. Roberts attended the 18th annual conference in Madison, Wisconsin in September of

2007 and completed

the Problem Oriented Policing Model Curriculum of study that same month.

Task Force

City of Savannah 2005 2011

Mr. Roberts currently serves by appointment of Savannah Mayor Otis B. Johnson, Ph.D. on

the Public Safety

Task Force. This special commission is tasked with providing long range strategies and

public policies to

enhance safety, security, and quality of life for Savannah residents and visitors. In

January, 2006, Mr. Roberts

was honored by the mayor and City Council for this continuing effort.

City of Atlanta 1995 - 1996

In 1995, J. R. Roberts served by appointment of the Atlanta City Council as the Chair of

the Crime Safety

Awareness Committee prior to and in anticipation of the 1996 Olympic Games. As a

consequence of this work,

CPTED and order maintenance concepts were introduced to the City, public safety and

security policies were

reviewed and a number of new guidelines were implemented.
