EXPERIENCE :
Network Systems Manager: University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. 2006 to present.
Managing all aspects of the Network and Telecommunications Team responsible for the Data,
Telecom and CableTV networks. Design network systems for new construction and building
renovations. Work with facilities to coordinate and recommend network installations.
Evaluate and recommend new network technologies. Maintain vendor relations. Collaborate
closely with other CITS team on various projects. Evaluate, recommend and install network
security solutions. Manage personnel and scheduling.
Network Systems Specialist: University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. 2000 to 2006

Team Leader as of 2004. (Specializing in all aspects of Network Design, Implementation
and Security)
Network Design & Implementation: Design and implement voice, data, and video (CATV)
networks in numerous new dormitory projects to accommodate an increase in the residential
student population. Review, design, and manage network projects and upgrades throughout
the University's Main Campus Network, Residential Network, Wireless Network, and Satellite
Campus Networks. Maintain vendor relations to evaluate and recommend new technologies.
Network Management: Manage and maintain 300+ network switches and routers. Run routine
maintenance checks and schedule firmware upgrades of the networking equipment.
Troubleshoot network problems. Work with administrators, department faculty and staff, and
other CITS teams develop and improve network systems to enhance connectivity.
Network Security: A member of the Enterprise Security Team which was developed to help
plan and implement IT security measures. Install and manage campus wide desktop firewall
rollout. Evaluate and recommend network level security technology such as Intrusion
Detection / Intrusion Prevention Systems. Manage Access Control Lists to secure the
University's systems from virus and hacker attacks. A member of the IT Security Cabinet
which meets on a monthly basis to discuss the IT security needs and strategies for all the
campuses within the UMass System.
Supervisory Experience: Managed a Residential Network Operations Center (ResNOC) from
2000 to 2005. Helped staff and grow the ResNOC in to an integral part of the Residential
Network. Scheduled and coordinated Networking Team projects, such as new building design
and installations.
Information Specialist: Arch Chemicals, Inc. East Providence, RI. 1996 to 2000.
(Specializing in all aspects of Network Design, Implementation, Administration and
Desktop Support)
Network Design & Implementation: Design 100 node network in new facility which would
function as part of a 300+ user network located in 4 buildings spanning 26 miles.
Responsible for installing Windows NT 4.0 Servers, PDC's, BDC's, Intranet Servers,
Intranet Design, Print Servers, implementing TCP/IP and IPX/SPX protocols and configuring
switches switches and routers
Network Administration: Administer 300 user multi-site/multi-server network (Windows N
4.0 and Novell 4.10). Create and maintain user accounts, daily backups, Disaster Recovery
plans, software and hardware inventory. Setup and maintain IS Help Center. Experience with
switches, routers, fiber optics, Ethernet, ISDN, T1 communications, Definity Phone Switch
and Octel Voice Mail systems.
Client Workstations: Setup and configure Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95 and DOS/Windows 3.x
workstations to be part of both Novell and NT networks. Setup workstations to communicate
with server applications such as AS/400, Peoplesoft, and SAP.
Telecommunications: Administer 500 station telephone network running on 2 Lucent Definity
v6 Switches. Create, delete and modify extensions and voice mailboxes. Organize and
coordinate telecommunication hardware and wiring installations and upgrades.
PC Coordinator: Olin Aegis, Inc. New Bedford, MA. 1995 to 1996.

Network Administration and PC Support: Maintain 50 users on a Novell 3.12 network.
Install and upgrade hardware and software, maintain daily backups and troubleshoot PC
problems.
