Objective

Experience

Glynlyon in Chandler, AZ

Software Development Manager from April, 2011 to October, 2012

* Provided employee development, teambuilding, coaching and mentoring

* Drove hiring, corrective action, and terminations for software development teams

* Performed strategic planning of product development with marketing, software development, engineering, training and finance departments

* Managed 4 Software Development teams. We created Custom Learning Management Systems (LMS) for Homeschooling families (www.aophomeschooling.com), private schools (www.aopschools.com), and public schools (www.odysseyware.com). We maintained all of the Glynlyon websites. Some of the LMS systems were Web Applications for hundreds of thousands of children. One LMS, Switched on Schoolhouse, was a client server application installed in hundreds of thousands locations. This was for homeschool families and private schools that were disconnected from the internet completely or only intermittently connected to the internet. Other Learning Management Systems that we created were developed with Dot Net VS 2010, PHP Doctrine with a custom MVC framework on LAMP and Groovy-Grails.

* Worked with the other technical managers and directors to define our software development processes. Communicated changes to other departments receiving their buy in.

* Initially provided project management for the teams. Trained two of the leads in agile project management, where both took responsibility for facilitating the daily "stand up" meetings and one of them took responsibility for Sprint Planning.

* Eliminated waste by guiding the change to Agile Software Development methodology. The result was that the teams implemented more features than any other year with the least number of developers and QA members.

* Invited user proxies to our Sprint Planning meetings. This allowed us to write the correct user stories resulting in implementing useful features. The result was that the entire gross of 2011 was matched from January, 2012 to the first week in September, 2012 for both of our LMS Teams. The same went for the total Business to Consumer website purchases (tens of millions of dollars).

* Improved quality by working with software architects and team leads to perform technical reviews. The result was less calls coming in when school began even though there were more users of our products.

Marsh USA Inc. in Chicago, Illinois

Team Leader from April, 2001 to March, 2005

* Automated Mission Critical Insurance Claim processes for Risk Management (This included rewriting existing Visual C++ ATL COM libraries with a VB front-end in C# and ASP Dot Net using a Dot Net frame-work written by another group of developers. Both Oracle and SQL-Servers are back-ends for this solution.)

* Developed a Dot net DLL in C# that provides one interface for batch processing in oracle, as well as inserting, deleting, updating and selecting from Oracle, SQL Server, and FoxPro with or without batch transactions. This enhances the performance while reducing the amount of database specifics that must be implemented in other parts of the system. The first developer to use this interface complemented the rebus error handling of the dll.

* Created the data-architecture for the Marsh Information Center with an ASP Dot Net front-end that uses Java-Script and Dot Net Remoting that trigger legacy COM objects on a set of servers with multi-processors. The solution allows the maximum CPU efficiently. There are 20 data processes that are submitting average bulk-files of One-hundred thousand claims with 6 million corresponding financial transaction on a busy day.
