Teaching Experience:

2001-present English Teacher, El Cajon Valley High School. Developed curriculum and instructed for a wide variety of classes and students. Taught 9th grade honors and college prep, also 10th, 11th, and 12th grade college prep and applied arts levels, in addition to English learners at all grade levels. Literacy classes have also been a part of my teaching assignment for native English speakers and English learners. Held various leadership roles on campus and within the English department.

2002-07 Summer School Teacher, El Cajon Valley High School.

2001/2000 Summer School Teacher, Steele Canyon H.S. (2001); Grossmont H.S. (2000). The program is intended for students who are at risk and entering ninth grade. The Summer Bridge Program is a dynamic intervention program with one English teacher and one Math teacher sharing a common group of students. In addition to content curriculum there is collaborative time for team building/ study skills.

2000-01 Student Teaching, O Farrell Community School; San Diego Unified School District. Under the supervision of a guide teacher, taught two 100-minute Humanities blocks. Planned and implemented lesson plans that accomplished the state standards while making the material accessible to a wide range of students at multiple ability levels and intelligences. Created and graded student assessments and assignments.

Training/ Workshops:

Visions Institute-August 2004-08. Intensive one-week sessions on technology with follow-up throughout the school year, focused on new technologies and classroom uses.

Google in Education- November 2007- A day training on different Google resources and ways to implement in the classroom.

Professional Learning Community (PLC) -Chicago school visit and training about PLCs.

Leadership Training-(2005-06) On site training with Mark Reardon for campus leaders.

PLC Training-(2005-present) District led workshops on PLC concepts and development.

CSU Expository Writing Workshop (2005-2006) -Three day initial training on for an expository writing program with several follow-up days throughout the school year.

2005 College Readiness Conference-Vertical alignment, and articulation between high schools and colleges and universities. October 2005.

Digital University-August 2002. Intensive one-week sessions yearly on technology with follow-up throughout the school year. Focuses include digital video and web development.
