Foster Care Social Worker

Performs case management, intervention, and/or counseling with children and their families (foster, adoptive and/or biological,) or any other at risk individual associated with the child to include: community resources; approved foster parents and agencies; benefit eligibility; and state compliance.

Conducts assessments of client needs and makes provisions for services to include: protective services; companion services; recruits; interviews; and home visits. Coordinates and participates in meetings with community partners to include Individual Education Plans (IEP); Student Assistance teams; Family Partnership Meetings (FPM); Virginia Independent Clinical Assessment Program (VICAP); Virginia Enhanced Maintenance Assessment Tool (VEMAT); and FAPT/CSA and IV-E funding. Prepares purchase orders and vendor invoices Prepares/creates/revises various forms, reports, and correspondence to include: case records; service plans; needs assessments; court reports; adoption reports; custody reports; and child support.

Creation, maintenance, coordination, organization, and research of a Teen curriculum that teaches life skills and coordinates with the Parenting class offered to parents and families through court orders and Social Workers.

Topics include: self-esteem, development, anger management, communication, problem solving, goal setting, safety, and relationships for adolescents ages 12-17 years of age.

Coordinated and developed community connections which served to provide incentives, food, facilities, and donations as well as a variety of guest speakers to the class.
