Fleet Manger - Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Operations, (FEB - SEPT 2012)

Supervised over $300 million in assets; 6 VLCCs and 5 Product Tankers trading globally, responsible for their safe and cost-effective operation. In this very difficult market, my ability to manage and reduce operational costs was crucial to ensuring a profitable voyage.

Key tasks and accomplishments:

* 24/7 first point-of-contact for the ship`s Master for all emergency situations and any shipboard issue requiring management advice or decision. Coordinated daily with the Masters, major oil company reps, bunker suppliers, port authorities, agents, custom officials, etc., to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fleet.

* Successfully vetted and hired armed security teams for my vessels transiting high-risk piracy areas ensuring a 100% safe transit record, with no injuries to crew, ship or cargo, despite several attacks.

* Negotiated agency service fees, bunker prices and additional war risk insurance coverage for my fleet daily to ensure the most competitive prices were offered.

* Expert at balancing the demands of ship maintenance and repair with commercial cargo interests. When a vessel contacted me with a pending repairs or supply requirements I capably coordinated with technical managers, suppliers and vessel charterers / cargo interests (customers) to ensure the vessel`s needs were met while keeping the customer well advised and comfortably able to meet their contractual requirements.

Manager Research Dept. & IT Dept., (2009 - 2012)

CDR US Navy - Mobilized

2011 (August) - 2012 (January)

Employer: Mobilized to U.S. Central Command Deployment & Distribution Operations Center (CDDOC), Kuwait & Iraq

Recalled to US Navy active duty to serve as CDDOC staff officer for U.S. Forces - Iraq J4 (Logistics & Transportation), coordinating and planning intra-theater air lift and surface retrograde movement during the historic withdraw of 90,000 American military and civilians, and 2 million pieces of equipment across 500 bases from the theater inside the 31 DEC 2011 White House deadline. Under extreme pressure from General Officers at all times to speed up the withdrawal, was able to resolve airlift friction points caused by limited air resources and unplanned lift requirements.

Personally responsible for resolving a key issue that was delaying the implementation of twice-weekly C-130 airlift support to U.S. Mission Iraq (USM-I), the US Department of State led-effort to assist the new Iraqi government. The US Ambassador to Iraq requested twice weekly airlift support to Baghdad and out-laying DoS sites, but U.S. Air Force Central (AFCENT) initially refused to fly the missions until USM-I provided a formal list of passenger and cargo requirements. The compromise I developed was to start the twice weekly service basis a 45-day requirements analysis period beginning 01 JAN 2012. AFCENT will now review the actual flights during this period and generate its requirements list basis the actual flight data. This agreement was signed on November 7th, 2011.

Provided key support to the U.S. State Department, U.S. Army Central Command and the Government of Iraq to resolve customs and communications issues immediately after the withdrawal of U.S. forces into Kuwait. Convoys of U.S. equipment and supplies moving across the Iraqi and Kuwait borders quickly ran into customs issues from both governments. I was successful at utilizing my contacts in both countries to resolve many of these stumbling blocks and ensure the smooth flow of urgent road traffic north and south across the border.
