2010-2011 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) award to
provide equipment, services and supplies to enhance classroom
and simulation laboratory experiential learning experiences. The
grant total is $115,957 for the period of one year: September 1,
2010-August 31, 2011; H. Talley, PI.
2010-2011 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) award:
Advanced Education Nursing grants to support increased
enrollment of students in nurse anesthesia programming. The goal
is to enhance distance learning opportunities and simulation
laboratory experiences, and is specifically aimed at increasing
enrollment of students through recruitment in rural, ethnically
diverse or marginalized environments. The project total is
$733,317 over a three year period

2007-2009Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Physician Group Incentive
Plan funding to MSU HealthTeam supported the start up
expenses for the development of Diabetes Group Visits. This
project provides one-on-one and group intervention to support
chronic disease self management goal setting and lifestyle
modification for improved patient care outcomes. Total award was
$14,000.
2006-2008Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation award from the
Robert Wood Johnson Partners Investing in Nursing s Future
Initiative Grant. This grant supported the design and
implementation of The RN Career Transition: Nursing for Life
program, featuring online theory and precepted clinical practica for
nurses wishing to transition to clinical practice in ambulatory,
home health, hospice and long term care settings. Responsibility
included: development of five ambulatory care modules and
coordination of precepted clinical practica. This project also
identified nursing priorities that other funders could support. The
project total for this award is $375,000 for two years.
2005-2006Michigan Department of Community Health Medicaid
Administrative Match agreement2005-06 (CON Amendment).
Participated in the development of Case Management role
descriptions and associated policies and procedures for
implementation in the CON Nursing HealthCare Center. This
project was developed to support the coordination of patient care
needs and the education of nursing students in serving Medicaid
recipients and other disadvantaged populations. This project was
initially funded in 2002. The resubmissions for fiscal 2002-3 and
2003-4 were also funded.
2004-2005Michigan State University, Scholarship of Diversity funding to
CON Practice. This project was developed to identify the diversity
of patients in the College of Nursing Primary Care Center, and
create a tool and process to survey new and current patients. A
process was implemented whereby data was entered into the IDX
practice management software for secure storage, and reporting
capability. The project total was $3,000 for two years: R. Canady,
PI (2004) and (2005).
2004 University of Wisconsin, Madison award from Robert Wood
Johnson to implement Wellness for a Lifetime grant. This project
was funded to assess healthy lifestyle behaviors among patients
in the primary care setting and support goal setting toward health
behavior change. This was a one time award of $10,000; K.
Dontje, PI.
2004Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the US
Department of Health and Human Services; Division of Nursing,
Care Coordination in Primary Care, $2.1 mil. (Submitted in
December 2004) Approved; not funded June 2005.
2001-2003 W. K. Kellogg Foundation grant for the purpose of establishing
Nurse Managed Primary Care Centers. This was a five year grant
that began in 1999, providing start up funding and operational
assistance to establish the CON Nursing HealthCare Center at
Michigan State University. This grant was part of a four university
collaborative including University of Michigan, Wayne State
University and Grand Valley University. $800,000 award, with no
cost extension concluded in 2003.
