PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Evergreen Valley Nursing Home, Plattsburgh, NY 2011 2012

Evergreen Valley is an 89-bed Skilled Nursing Facility, with a 24-person adult day care facility. Due to severe financial decline over the past four years, a consulting firm specializing in nursing home resuscitation has been engaged by the owner. Their first action, as is usually the case, was to replace the Administrator and the entire Financial Department.

Controller

Performed all financial and accounting functions, including monthly financial statements, forecasts, and annual budgets. Oversight of accounting staff. Hired and trained accounting personnel to handle Accounts Payable and Billing/Accounts Receivable and Collections. Managed the preparation of financial data, including monthly financial statements, required by management as well as governmental and external audits. Prepared cash flow projections, reviewed and planned cash outflow, collaborating with senior management to accurately forecast and report on financial status. Oversaw adherence to all governmental reporting requirements. Analyzed monthly financial statements and three month rolling PL forecasts to ensure alignment with companys priorities and business strategies designed to meet yearly targets and strategic plans.

Hearst Television Inc. owns or manages 26 Television stations throughout the US. It is the broadcast arm of the Hearst Corporation, one of the largest publishing and communications companies in the world. Predecessor Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. was a publicly-held corporation, subject to the scrutiny of Wall Street and the mandates of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act until all outstanding stock was purchased by closely-held Hearst Corporation in 2009. WPTZ-WNNE realizes annual revenues of approximately $15 million. My position was eliminated in a corporate downsizing effort in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Based in Tallahassee, FL, LedgerPlus provides support for individual franchisees throughout the US.

WVNY was one of four television stations owned by closely-held Citadel Communications Corp. of Bronxville, NY. Annual revenues were just under $10 million.

Supervised the preparation, maintenance, and presentation of all financial data internally or externally, including station monthly financial statements and annual budgets. Managed periodic audits and ensured compliance with established policies, regulations, and procedures. Oversight of accounting staff for payroll, payables and receivables. Served as custodian to safeguard the organization's financial assets.

HARRINGTON HAM COMPANY, Richmond, VT 1987 1992

Harringtons began as a small smokehouse over 75 years ago. Their quality pork products are world-renowned. It has grown into a wide-ranged specialty foods company, including seven retail outlets throughout New England and a highly-seasonal mail-order operation. Owned by the FX Matt brewing Company from Utica, NY when I was hired, the company was purchased by its long-term general manager under my tenure. The company remains a family operation, grossing approximately $8 million annually.
