PROFESSIONAL Experience
BAE SYSTEMS
(formerly GEC MARCONI) Wayne, NJ19982012
Sr. Principal Engineer
- DoD Clearance (2000- 2012)
Assigned to design deliverable test equipment for U. S. and foreign governments utilizing
BAE s Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS).
Designed dedicated test stations to test power supplies, analog circuits, digital
circuits, RF circuits and systems containing one or more of these circuits.
Electrical and mechanical design, component selection, fabrication, integration and
cost control.
Frequently performed mechanical design of chassis and panels. On numerous occasions,
electronic and mechanical assemblies were fabricated in home shop to meet critical
schedules. These homemade assemblies include wire wrapping cards, machining and
assembling chassis and fabricating printed circuits cards.
Key Projects:
F22-LMSTAR Depot Partnering (2009 2011) Redesigned the F22 Controller Interface Test
Adapter (ITA) I previously designed for BAE s production testing to be re-hosted on
Lockheed Martin s Air Force Depot test platform (LM-STAR). This new design combined all of
the features of three BAE ITAs (SRU, ATP and ESS) into one at a substantial savings. Task
included electrical and some mechanical design of the ITA. Redesigned two printed wiring
boards and updated the firmware for three micro-controllers.
Ground Mobile Radio
(GMR) (20072009) Performed all the Electrical, Mechanical and
LabVIEW design for:
1 Network Interface Unit (NIU) Simulator to test the Portable Control Display Device
(PCDD).
2 PCDD Docking Station TPS used to test the UUT at bench level ATP and ESS.
3 PCDD PWB SRU Engineering Development/Production SRU Fixture.
Scrapped all the test equipment design approach and specifications, defined by Systems
Engineering, at start of task and start over. Devised a scheme to use Engineering
prototype PCDD Circuit Cards with modified FPGA firmware to successfully test BAE s
proprietary serial interface. I machined, in house, all three Docking Station TPS chassis.
Frequently traveled to Florida to train subcontractor personnel.
128 Computer Display Unit (CDU) Station (2006 2007) Project lead and CAM tasked with
fabricating two new 1978 Test Stations from print. Most components and wire wrap cards
were obsolete necessitating procurement on the surplus market. Designed wire wrap cards
(PCB123) using original cards as a model and designed three front panels (Front Panel
Express) saving $3000 and 6 weeks. Both stations delivered well ahead of schedule and
under budget.
128 Doppler SRU (2004) Project lead and CAM tasked with fabricating three bench top SRU
TPS s: Doppler Digital Processor, Doppler Analog Processor and Power Supply. Performed all
electrical, mechanical and firmware design including artwork for 2 multilayer PWBs.
F22 DMS and PIP (1998 2006) Project lead and CAM tasked with the initial integration
and later the updating or redesigning the following TPSs:
oo Controller LRU (Electrical, Firmware, PCB Art Work and some Mechanical)
Digital SRU ITA New design
Power Supply SRU ITA New design
LRU ATP ITA Re-design
LRU ESS ITA
Re-design
oo RT LRU (Electrical, Firmware, PCB Art Work and some Mechanical)
Digital SRU ITA New design
LRU ESS ITA Re-design

Sr. Principal Engineer, continued
LPIA Antenna Delay T/S (2002) Project lead tasked with electrical and mechanical design
of an RF delay module to simulate antenna propagation delay.
JTRS Power Supply SRU T/S (2001) Project lead and CAM tasked with ITA electrical and
mechanical design of a manual bench top test set for a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) power
supply assembly.
MIDS Voice SRU TPS (2000) Project lead and CAM tasked with ITA electrical design for the
automated testing of a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) digital voice assembly.
DITMCO Chassis Tester
(19992001) Project lead and CAM tasked with designing multiple
chassis test paddles for the PILOT and FSD Programs. Design responsibilities were
electrical, mechanical & software. Received much praise from DITMCO for developing an
EXCEL algorithm for generating DITMCO code from a wire list. Generated a C program for
reading and writing an imbedded EEPROM.
EPROM Programmers (1998 2001) Project lead and CAM tasked with designing multiple in-
circuit card level EPROM Programmer Adaptors, for US and UK military, based on Data I/O
BoardSite. Performed electrical and software design and trained UK technicians in England.
