Since January 2010 I am a post doctoral researcher at University of California San Diego
.
Currently I'm part of the System Energy and Efficiency Lab (SEE Lab) at UCSD under the
supervision of professor Tajana imunic Rosing. Within this group my research focuses on
distributed collaborative systems for air quality monitoring (Citisense Project,
http://seelab.ucsd.edu/health/overview.shtml), context dependent resource management in
mobile systems and applications and distributed techniques for data mining in wireless
sensor networks. From January 2009 until December 2009 I was a full collaborator within
the Ambient Intelligence group at Micrel Lab, University of Bologna, where I was involved
in the research on wireless sensor networks as enabling technology for Context
Recognition and human-computer interaction. In particular special emphasis was been
placed in context recognition through redundant and dynamic networks. My research
interests included smart object design, tangible interfaces, Pyroelectric InfraRed (PIR)
based surveillance and multimodal surveillance. I received a Ph.D. degree from University
of Bologna in May 2009. I received a master degree in electrical and computer science in
2005.
Visit http://seelab.ucsd.edu/~piero/index.shtml for an overview of activities where I m
involved.
