Job History / Details:
DAVID J. DIXOn
Jan. 2012- Present Superintendent
Atherton Construction, Semour Johnson Air Force Base Goldsboro, NC
I am the Closeout Superintendent building approximately 170 new single family and duplex homes. I am responsible for everything from sheetrock to final government inspections.
Nov. 2008-Dec. 2011 Superintendent
Lend Lease, Cherry Point, NC Project Manager: Lucas Asterman
I oversaw the renovation of 46 executive homes at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, NC. I was also the close-out superintendent on approximately 100 new homes for Nugent Cove 2 and 3A, which are single and multi-family dwellings.
I was responsible for processing daily manpower reports so subcontractors could be compensated, along with constant interaction with Atlantic Marine Corps Communities which is the managing partner for the homes throughout Cherry Point. I also handled issues for warranties on new and renovated houses.
Jan. 2007-Mar. 2008 Superintendent
Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL Project Manager: Chris Kirkland
This project required diplomacy and decision making skills, along with the ability to work well with others.
As supervisor to all major renovations in the conversion of twenty four carports into garages and kitchen renovation work for one hundred sixty units, time management was paramount to this position. During my time with SunStar I brought all projects into completion under the time frame allowed, with most being below budget. I handled the preparation of submittals, coordinating the subcontractors and other personnel involved with the projects, including the responsibility of time card punctuality and accuracy.
Sept. 2003-Jan. 2007 Superintendent
Allstar, Parris Island, SC Vice President: Dennis Coleman
These Military Installation Projects required excellent time management skills along with the ability to work independently.
As superintendent in charge of renovations at Parris Island I oversaw a project on Quarteraiis 4, which is a historic renovation that required the complete demo to both the interior and exterior of the house. At the beginning of the project there were no windows, doors or siding; basically only a shell of a house. We were given a strict time line of thirty days from start to completion on each house, which was adhered to. After completion and inspections on that historic demo, I was given the projects of renovating the other historic Quarters 8, 66 and 67. Handling all minor projects that arose at both Parris Island and Laurel Bay was my responsibility as well.
As superintendent on the Laurel Bay project I was responsible for the 1.4 million dollar renovation project of 1,100 homes. During this period, I did punch work items on new houses for the General Contractor (Lend Lease) on both Parris Island & Laurel Bay along with the construction of their equipment building designed to house pumps and accessories for the new Community Center and Pool.
Oct. 2001-Sept. 2003 Superintendent
R & G Construction, Charlotte, NC President: Bill Dennis
I worked for a civilian contracting company that did strictly military construction on both the Air Station and Parris Island. These diverse projects ranged from $250K to $1M.
My assignments varied with each project I was responsible for, ranging from overseeing the construction of the new bath house for the family pools on Parris Island, to demolition of old structures and erection of new ones, to the underground utilities including water and sewer.
Throughout these projects I gained expertise in the preparation of bids, the submittal process needed to begin construction, the necessary meetings with the government and military personnel both before and after the work would begin, as well as the scheduling of subcontractors for their phase of the work.
Feb. 1998-Oct. 2001 Superintendent
Pottenger Builders, Beaufort, SC President: Vern Pottenger
I was responsible for building custom homes ranging from $500K to $1M. These homes were built to client specifications on two of Beaufort Countyaiis exclusive gated communities known as Fripp Island and Harbor Island.
Mar. 1977-Dec. 1997 Owner / Contractor
Dave Dixon Building & Remodeling, Beaufort, SC Self Employed
As a self-employed contractor my expertise was mainly in new home construction, whole house renovations, and additions along with light commercial work, i.e.: doctoraiis offices, beauty shops, etc. All estimates and presentations to the potential customer were handled solely by me. In addition, as hands on owner I was responsible for coordinating all of the employees and subcontractors.
