using filter media like gravel & sand.
The building houses 4 filter beds (size 7.9 m x 8.7 m) separated by
walls with filter media resting on nozzle slab, pipe gallery, console room

Detailed design of BRPH of internal dimensions 60 m in length and (13+8) m

. Junior Suite Building: The internal size of the total building is 10.6
m length and 6.0 m width. The super structure consists of RC beams,
columns and hipped plate roof slab, 230mm thick brick wall all around.
The roof loads are transferred through structural columns to the bottom
of foundation.
. Typical King Suite 1st & 2nd Level Building: The internal size of the
total building is 75.74 m length and 10.7 m width, with an expansion
joint provided at 32.2 m from the left end. The super structure
consists of RC beams, columns and slab, 150 mm thick brick wall all
around. The roof loads are transferred through structural columns to
the bottom of foundation.
. Typical King Suite 3rd & 4th Level Building: The internal size of the
total building is 93.9 m length and 10.7 m width, with an expansion
joint provided at 40.0 m from the left end. The super structure
consists of RC beams, columns and slab, 150 mm thick brick wall all
around. The roof loads are transferred through structural columns to
the bottom of foundation.

. Cast-house Mud gun & Drilling Room: The internal size of the total
building is 12 m length and 8 m width, the super structure consists of
RC beams, columns and slab, 250 mm thick brick wall all around. The

foundation.
. Hot Stove - Hydraulic room: The internal size of the total building is
18.4 m length and 10.4 m width, the super structure consists of RC
beams, columns and slab, 250 mm thick brick wall all around. The roof
loads are transferred through structural columns to the bottom of
foundation.
Project: Seabird Olympic size swimming pool at Karwar, Karnataka.
Detailed design of RC structures as highlighted below:
. Swimming pool: Swimming pool is an underground water-tight reinforced
concrete structure, ground water table is located 1.5 meters below
natural ground level.Hence there will be uplift pressure on the floor
of the swimming pool when it is empty. Therefore, the affect of uplift
pressure is counteracted by adding dead weight in the form of plum
concrete.
Earth pressure and submerged water pressure are taken upto top of
RCC of floor slab only. Below the top slab, since out side soil
pressure will be counteracted by the PCC filling. Hence, there will not
be any differential pressure below the top slab.
The intended use of the structure is for sporting events such as
racing and diving. Internal dimensions of the structure are as under:

Diving Pool Platform at 5.54 m level
This cantilever platform is located at +5.54 M level from natural
ground level (NGL= +3.00 M level) and the cantilever slab is supported
by a beam projecting from the column, which is resting on a footing.
Access to the platform is provided by a single flight staircase from
+3.0 m level to +5.540 m level,loads are transferred from slab to the
supporting beam via column to the footing (open foundation) located 2.0
m below NGL.
. Diving Pool Platforms at 7.96 m, 10.48 m, 13.0 m level and staircase
column
These cantilever platforms are located at +7.96 M, 10.48 M and 13.00 M
levels respectively from natural ground level (NGL+3.00 M level ) and
the cantilever slabs at +7.96 M, 10.48 M and 13.00 M levels are
supported by beams projecting from the columns, which are resting on a
pile cap. Access to the platforms is provided by a staircase from +3.0
m level to +13.00 m level,supported by a wall like column,loads are
transferred from slab to the supporting beam via column to the footing
(pile foundation) located at 3.0 M level.

(NUNV) Seismic Engineer - Urban Earthquake Vulnerability Reduction Program
- Vijayawada City - a sub-component of Government of India and United
