PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
MATER DEI, LLC, Hanceville, Alabama . 2001 - 2012
Commercial and Residential property development firm.
Project Engineering Manager
Spearhead all phases of large-scale development initiatives comprised of up
to 5 units per project, including strategic planning to analyze potential
opportunities and procurement of investment capital. Secure regulatory
permits, orchestrate subcontractor acquisition, and lead vendor
negotiations. Manage staff of up to 40 to ensure alignment with quality
standards.
Major Contributions:
. Provide technical direction to superintendents and subcontractors for the
installation of site infrastructure to include power distribution, water
and sewer, gas, drainage, communication and roadways.
. Consult with Architectural and Engineering firms on constructability
issues, project schedule, plan revisions and costs, equipment selection
and risk management.
. Preparation of construction estimates, engineering studies, subcontractor
schedules and budgets.
. Evaluation of vendor bids to insure material and/or equipment are in
conformance to specifications.
. Developed written Scope of Work (SOW) to support contract agreements,
issuance and alleviate client concerns.
. Review inspection reports, delivery schedules, purchase orders and
instruction manuals.
. Inspect the commissioning of all systems and present project completion
to client for approval.
AC CONTROLS, INC., Charlotte, North Carolina . 1995 - 2001
Industrial provider of combustion and process control systems, mechanical
integration of instruments, controls, valves and DCS for varied industries.
Technical Manager
Managed major industrial automation projects to accommodate process
improvements, regulatory requirements, plant expansions and upgrades.
Conducted consultative presentations with clients, assessed needs, and
developed right-sized solutions to meet project specifications and
budgetary constraints. Leveraged extensive technical knowledge to provide
in-depth analysis of problematic processes and recommended system
modifications, upgrades or replacement technologies. Consultative role
with engineers and technicians at Pontiac Foods, Tyson's, Campbell's Soup,

AC CONTROLS, INC, Technical Manager (continued)
Major Contributions:
. Designed, directed the construction, developed the sequence of
operations, specified instrumentation and commissioned skid mounted
batching systems for copper plating industry. Project required the
coordination of mechanical, electrical and control systems and their
perspective subcontractors installed in a 24 hour continuous
manufacturing environment.
. Managed the installation and defined the mechanical and control
specifications for a $23 million state of the art continuous dye range.
Project required the integration of 7 50hp VFD's (Variable Frequency
Drive), 54 temperature transmitters, 12 flange level transmitters, 6 pH
and conductivity loops, infrared temperature measurements, discrete and
analog valve operation, flame safe guard components, 8 magnetic flow
meters and a duplicate PLC control system.
. Provided technical lead for mechanical and control specification for a
dilute phase conveying system for food grade PET. Project coordinated
through A&E firm with performance and specification responsibility
assigned to Technical Manager. Two year and $78m+ plant addition to
support new product development.
CAPSUGEL/WARNER-LAMBERT, INC., Greenwood, South Carolina . 1988 - 1990,
1991 - 1995
Worldwide manufacturer of gelatin capsules for the pharmaceutical industry.
Plant Engineer
Principle engineer for all critical facility systems to include: power
distribution, process heating and cooling, chiller plant, compressed air
and vacuum, liquid desiccant drying and DCS for plant infrastructure and
process control. Directed large scale plant expansions and new
construction projects domestically and internationally. Supervisory
responsibility for 24 mechanical and electrical technicians.
Major Contributions:
. Directed the conversion of 66 process drying systems requiring around the
clock integration of mechanical, electrical, insulation, and control
subcontractors in a continuous Class 300 clean room manufacturing
environment. Initial machine conversion required 17 weeks and $86k;
however, by the 11th machine the construction schedule had been reduced
to 6 weeks and $53k. Efficient use of time, management of material and
improved cooperation of subcontractors streamed lined the project and
returned exceptional results.
. Coordinated the installation of a 2500 ton chiller plant complete with
heat recovery, variable speed pumps, and replacement cooling towers. All
mechanical and electrical systems tide in with existing plant during a 6
day outage and 24 hour/day work schedule. This project additionally
required the installation of a new MCC (Motor Control Center),
transformer upgrade and expansion of the substation.
JOHNSON CONTROLS, INC., Kennedy Space Center, CCAFS, Florida, . 1990 - 1991
