Duties: Diagnose and treat patients with a variety of acute and chronic
illnesses. Supervise support staff. Precept Nurse Practitioner students
through WVU, Mountain State University and Frontier School of Midwifery and
Family Nursing. I am the original founder of this clinic. We opened this
Free Clinic one day per week in 2001 after one year of planning. I wrote a
grant to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and secured funding to open the
clinic full time. The clinic is now open 43 hours per week and has over
4,000 patients. With over 100 volunteers the clinic sees patients for
primary care, psychiatry, massage therapy, medication management,
counseling, diabetes education and many other services. Through a network
of over 100 volunteer specialist, the clinic is able to refer patients to
specialists in the community to be seen for cardiology, rheumatology,
endocrinology and many other specialties.
