Job Description:
Responsible for collecting blood samples for analysis and observe proper labeling
for each designated test and procedures before submitting the specimen to the
respective section of the laboratory.
Primarily handled the collected specimen properly. And independently resolve
technical specimen issues in the preparation for analysis and specimen storage.
Performs and release accurate results in each clinical laboratory testing in
accordance with established written standard operating procedures accurately and
in timely manner.
Able to operate fully automated machines at the same time maintaining, checking
and ensuring the stability of the machines in order to operate within its optimum
performance before placing it into service.
Performs basic instrumentation and equipment troubleshooting.
Encoding and recording of every laboratory test performed including conducting
monthly census in the number of test done from different sections of the
laboratory.
Performs inventory and checking of supplies, reagents, equipment, chemical
stability and specimen storage in order to ensure the validity of test results and
makes request when necessary.
Maintains the safety guidelines within the different section area of the
laboratory including sanitary measures to the working area, proper disposal of
biohazard substances and proper machine handling.
Participates external quality assurance scheme.
Assigned as a rotating Medical Technologist to different sections of the
laboratory such as Bacteriology Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical
Microscopy and Parasitology, Blood Bank, Serology and Immunology and
Histopathology-except for cutting of tissue blocks.
BACTERIOLOGY:
• Responsible for receiving all specimens for routine culture, for staining and
other procedures with its proper label and identification.
• Do aerobic culture and inoculate the following specimens on the appropriate media
such as Blood, Urine, Stool, Pus and other body fluids (Pleural, Peritoneal,
Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF), Synovial fluid )Vaginal and Urethral swabs, Throat
swabs and Wound discharges.
• Isolation and Identification of bacteria from cultures specimen by biochemical
testing.
• Do antibiotic susceptibility tests.
• Responsible for the preparations and availability of various broth and agar
culture media.
• Responsible for the maintenance of live control strains of the commonest clinical
pathogens for Bacteriologic Quality Control Programs.
• Performs microscopic identifications of microorganisms through Gram staining, Acid
Fast Bacilli staining, KOH, and India Ink.
• Observing proper safety guidelines and proper disposal of used media and specimen.

• Perform the following coagulation tests: Prothrombin time(PT),Activated Partial
Thromboplastin Time(APTT), Clot retraction tests, Clotting time and Bleeding time,

identify the patient versus specimen then log it in logbook.

• Responsible for the submitted tissue if it is properly preserve in a fixative
reagent like in 10 percent formalin.
• Assists the Pathologist during gross examination of specimen.
