Provide Environmental, Health and Safety services to a Calcium Wire/Calcium
Metal Manufacturing Facility and Limestone Quarry.
Environmental, Health and Safety Manager:
Brought in to develop a positive safety culture among employees. Safety
and quality pushed through 5S, standard work and lean programs throughout
the facility with emphasis on safety and quality.
Key Results:
Achieved a milestone, 1 year with zero injuries, first time in more than 10
years site had gone with no injuries in a 1

Provided assistance in Red Bag incineration program. Designed collection
parameters and initial stack testing for determination of incinerator
efficiencies.
Developed monitoring strategies and sampling techniques to identify
airborne contaminants responsible for property damage on hospital
grounds. Damage estimates exceeded 2 million dollars. The project
consisted of air monitoring, vegetation sampling, source sampling,
meteorological data collection, personal interviews, historical
reviews, legal meetings and analysis summaries.
Designed and installed a pilot plant vacuum distillation assembly. The
process involved reducing raw peppermint oil into several of the
prominent oils used in the food industry.

chemical manufacturing facility.
1 Key Results:
Developed monitoring protocols, sampling strategies, sampling techniques,
and analysis methods to comply with OSHA regulations promulgated for
the manufacture of acrylonitrile. Compliance programs included training,
health safety monitoring, respirator fit testing and exposure assessments
for over 600 employees.
Implemented several programs to reduce VOC emissions as required by OSHA
and EPA regulations. The first reduction involved utilizing in-line
sample valves which eliminated sample line flushing prior to sample
collection. The second reduction focused on eliminating open chemical
sewer lines. The lines were plugged and a water flush installed to
reduce vapor emissions during normal plant operations.
Researched available technologies for low level detection of hydrogen
cyanide for emergency alarm activation. Modeled probable emergency
release dispersions and plotted locations for sample probes. Supervised
installation, calibration and initial facility testing. Developed
procedures for response to alarm for both the facility and the
surrounding community. Coordinated police and fire squad responses to
facility leaks and spills.
Supervised health safety program for new technology at facility involving
the use of formaldehyde. Provided all levels of employee and area
monitoring to demonstrate compliance with OSHA regulations. Provided
technical assistance with development of area ventilation to meet OSHA
requirements. Conducted Method 21 fugitive emissions surveys on over 1800
components in formaldehyde service. Initiated semi-annual Leak Detection
And Repair (LDAR) program for formaldehyde operations.
Developed monitoring strategies for determination of employee exposures to
toxic dust at over 15 fertilizer custom blend outlets. Implemented
medical programs and respiratory protection programs for conformance with
OSHA regulations. Determined and specified methods of dust reduction for
production facility and custom blend outlets.
