Facilities Regional Manager – Managed 6 direct and 19 indirect reports that focused on identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing efficient process/procedures for the distribution infrastructure, call center, cafeteria, information technologies support and employee wellness departments while ensuring, local, state and federal regulatory and safety compliance. Personally responsible for all capital projects over $500,000 as well as annual expense and capital budget planning and management.

Accomplishments at McMaster-Carr Supply Co.:

-Through implementation of various projects and improvements based process and reliability evaluations, reduced down-time of conveyor equipment in a 600,000 square foot regional warehouse from 20 hours to less than 1 hour monthly. These efforts proved instrumental in saving an average of $1.1 million in productivity in overtime and operational expenses for McMaster-Carr Supply Co.

-As the regional facilities manager with McMaster-Carr Supply Co. accomplished the following: 1) Improved internal audit findings from 10 to 15 discrepancies per year to 2 to 4 per year; 2) Optimized processes designed to accommodate the needs of a 20% staff expansion; and 3) Slashed annual maintenance and facilities budget by 25% over 4 years; 4) Implemented technical skills development program transitioning 6 existing staff to new roles.

Accomplishments at EMD Chemicals Inc.:

-Entrusted by senior management with implementation project management and training for a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for EMD Chemicals, Inc., transitioning the maintenance approach from 100% reactive to 80% proactive, while improving the productivity of the team. This was accomplished by successfully transitioning the production and maintenance teams to a performance metric driven, scheduled maintenance program by utilizing computerized maintenance management systems, providing reliability and trade skills training and cultivating collaborative production schedules supporting maintenance activities. As a result, achieved a 9% reduction of plant headcount while meeting productivity goals.

-Responsible project manager coordinating design and supervision of construction to address mold and environmental air quality remediation for a 60,000 square foot R&D facility for EMD Chemicals, Inc. that included the replacement of all ventilation systems while utilizing temporary equipment. Construction was completed without any laboratory interruptions for resident research scientists during the duration of the project.

-Decreased equipment down-time for EMD Chemicals Inc. by 40% in 2 years, while simultaneously reducing annual maintenance expenditures by up to 8% without compromising equipment performance. Consequently, conducted a comprehensive facility upgrade of a maintenance management system to SAP Technology.

CH2M Hill-Lockwood Greene, Savannah, Georgia 2000 to 2004

Lead Project Mechanical Engineer– Responsibilities included serving as onsite engineering consultant for key clients such as EMD Chemicals and Georgia-Pacific. Assessed client needs, technical requirements, and optimized engineering processes to achieve project objectives.

Accomplishments at CH2M Hill-Lockwood Greene:

-Lead the scale up design from pilot plant to high volume production line, contraction and start up of a new product for a Savannah specialty chemical client to enter a new market quickly and profitably meeting an 11 week design/build schedule and $1.3 million investment that realized an increase in annual revenue of $5.2 million.

-Lockwood Greene past accomplishments also include design and capital investments presentation to client management board and commissioned over 15 food and beverage process improvement projects encompassing specialized process and packing equipment, controls optimization, CIP systems to meet FDA requirements, general piping and material handling for 7 different Anheuser-Busch brewery facilities within a 3 year period.
