Profile
Providing an extensive knowledge in various manufacturing settings to
improve production and quality.
Experience
February 2012-Present Project Engineer, Marietta Corp
Currently I work for Marietta Corporation which is a bar soap making
facility. I am their Project Engineer and my duties consist of continuous
improvement. I am involved with making their production lines more
efficient. I've been designing high speed presses, packaging equipment and
conveying equipment which we build in house. I am also over the tool and
die shop, designing dies for pressing out bars of soap in various sizes and
shapes. I provide help for the Project Coordinator with technical drawings,
information, and line capacities for new product launches.
November 2011-February 2012 Construction Superintendant, IMC of
Memphis
Here I work at various factories providing new installations and
maintenance support using welding, fabricating, and millwright work. This
company is more of a construction company in an industrial field. However I
was able to use my engineering background to trouble shoot design issues of
new dust collection systems and transfer equipment for Glaxo Smith Kline
which is a pharmaceutical co. Most of the equipment was designed and built
at a facility out of state. Project coordinators changed plant layouts for
their Chapstick lines. In doing so I was utilized to help coordinate and
redesign the dust collection equipment and conveying equipment to suit
their needs.
July 2010-October 2011 Project Maintenance/Engineer, Manpower/Bodine
Aluminum
This is an Aluminum casting plant for Toyota and they cast all the engine
blocks, transmission housings. In this department I've been working with
Engineering on special projects to improve the production process. Majority
of the time I was designing cooling tunnels and conveying equipment to
transfer the product throughout the plant. My focus was to design and
coordinate outside contractors to construct and install equipment/conveying
equipment. This includes designing and building equipment to improve flow
and quality of the products. One of the biggest in house projects I was
involved with was a misting jig to be used instead of a quench tank. This
involved thermal dynamics, designing, construction, and installation. This
jig alone improved the quality of the part and improved the production
process.
June 2008-May 2009 Engineer, Millmasters Inc
This company designed and built tubemills which is a roll forming machine,
mostly built for the automotive industry. Here I designed the actual mill
and all components that are attached to this machine. These items included
the tooling used to form the various shapes required by the manufacturers.
Various equipment such as an uncoiler, cut off machine, and conveying
equipment designed specifically per manufacturers specifications and needs.
Created and revised blueprints, and worked with different fabrication and
machining company's to produce the equipment. These tubemills had very
tight tolerances which had to be kept or the would have been some
interference issues.
June 2005-June 2008 Fabrication Mgr/Engineer, Industrial Maintenance
services of TN
Here I helped with questions and made decisions that involved my experience
in all aspects of welding, machine shop, blueprinting, machine design and
repair. I've designed machines and conveying equipment for various
manufacturers. This also includes mold and die repair for various companies
that have die cast machines and plastic mold injection machines. I worked
along side with the Engineers at various companies to design and produce
the equipment used in their manufacturing process.
Aug 2003-May 2005 Welder/Fabricator/ Engineer, Midsouth Ind
Went to different factories and provided help with equipment removal and
redesign plant layouts. I coordinated jobs that involved equipment repair
and installation. Then I was moved up into the engineering dept for my auto-
cad and design skills. My new position involved equipment and transfer
equipment design and construction. Coordinated with various companies for
components to be built per design and assembled at the specific Plant the
equipment was designed for.
Aug 2000-July 2003 Maintenance Engineer, Haywood Company
I worked in the Projects dept which provided in house contractor support
for the whole Plant. Also I supervised crews with equipment installation,
and coordinated construction of new equipment. Designed machinery and
conveying equipment for new areas of the plant and helped solve problems
that may come up.
Sept 1996-June 2000 Line Leader, Galbreath, Inc
This company designed and built trailers for the waste handling industry.
We built anything from
48' fully enclosed aluminum trailers or 24' dump trailers. Worked full time
as the 2nd shift transfer trailer line leader. This involved welding and
construction of the complete trailer from the suspension until it went out
the door. During this time I was going to school studying Mech Eng.
Aug 1993-Aug 1996 U.S. Navy, USS South Carolina
Served in the US Navy as a Hull Maintenance Tech, which was the maintenance
and mill wright crew for the ship. We have done everything from welding on
up to repairing hydraulics for the nuclear reactor. We pretty much had our
hands in everything to keep the ship running in tip top shape.
