WORK EXPERIENCE
DPS System - Brampton, ON
2010 - Current
IT Consultant
Developed the most comprehensive scheduling Saas system available for
medical professionals and patients on-line called www.MyDocSchedule.com
Seeing a need for an enterprise data management platform, started a company
that developed a versatile "liquid" data management system called
DataStream Processor. The platform will help large organisations manage
their internal and external data streams and was involved with the entire
SDLC. The system is available for testing at www.datastreamprocessor.com
Ran an independent consulting firm helping small companies with their data
management and related IT issues. Among other things implemented and
customised a complex open source JEE-based ERP e-commerce system called
Ofbiz for a start-up e-commerce firm (www.cmprocessing.ca)
Technologies used were: Java, J2EE, Hibernate, JSF, Maven, Ant, Groovy,
XML, UNIX scripts, Sybase SQL
Accenture Canada - Mississauga (2004 - 2010)
Sr. Java Developer
(Worked on two different projects for Canada post and Morgan Stanley)
Canada Post
Jan 2009 - Mar 2010
Worked on renovation of IT infrastructure at Canada Post. Initially
participated on a complete conversion of the CP Internet infrastructure
from .NET to JEE environment.
In the second phase worked as a lead developer on JEE-based data stream
management system called Data Broker and participated in the entire SDLC.
The purpose of the system was to clean, distil, transform and route large
amounts of data from CP regional offices to its centralised back-end
systems.
Technologies included the very latest JEE server technology (Sun Glassfish)
and numerous advanced JEE components.
Supervised and led a team of 4-8 junior developers.
Technology - Glassfish, Java, JSP, J2EE, Ant, Struts, Hibernate, EJB,
Oracle, SQL, UNIX
Morgan Stanley
Oct 2004 - Jan 2009
Senior team member of the Referential Data Support and Development Team,
providing services to Morgan Stanley Enterprise Data Group and this data
was utilised by the FX systems. Team lead for the equity subgroup within
the team with the head-count of 4 to 6 Junior Developers. Hands-on
developer for numerous smaller and several large projects.
Technologies used were: Perl, Java, Ant, Hibernate, UNIX scripts, XML,
Sybase SQL, Autosys Scheduler and FTP protocols etc.
Development
Developed multiple feeds From Bloomberg data license to our vendor holding
databases. The major processes were fully automated systems that processed
Bloomberg full suite of equity Back Office files and a separate suite of
fixed income Back Office files including all Bloomberg currency,
derivatives referential and pricing files (about 200 files in all) which
were parsed and loaded into Bloomberg staging databases. This greatly
improved robustness and availability of the data to other critical
downstream systems within the firm.
Worked on Nymex data conversion from Reuters feed to Direct Nymex feed for
derivatives. This improved data quality which enabled more robust trading
and settlement activities.
Led a critical project to map Bloomberg IDs for all derivative products
world-wide to the internal product Ids and exchange-provided product files.
Worked on a conversion of a legacy equity index loading process to a fully
automated system for MSCI indices, loading ~4000 indices daily, providing
significant improvements in data quality and simplified support.
Additionally, designed and developed a T+ index loader, projecting future
index versions based on the announced index changes by the data vendor.
Led, supervised and tutored junior developers on the team. Explained
business requirements and the existing solutions if available, provided
examples, helped with difficult issues. Assigned smaller development and
support tasks. Reviewed larger development task solutions provided by the
junior developers.
Support
The Reference Data Support and Development team provided Level1 and Level 2
support, on a 24x7 schedule for all Equity, Fixed Income and Corporate
Action batch processes. Additionally, Level 3 support was provided on an
ad-hoc basis to resolve issues and/or process failures programmatically.
Interfaced with data vendors, e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters, Telekurs, Moodys,
S&P, Fitch, to resolve batch failures and/or data content issues
Technologies used were: Java, UNIX scripts, Perl, Sybase SQL, Autosys
Scheduler, FTP protocols etc.
Hewlett Packard Canada- Mississauga, ON
(1998 - 2003)
Senior IT Specialist
As a Junior PM led a document imaging project whose purpose was to
streamline and consolidate documentation for HP Credit as well as HP South
America (which was a separate unit from HP Credit). Participated in vendor
screening and selection with the business group. The project was based on a
3rd party system called FileNET.
The system was mandated to achieve 24x7 availability due to its world-wide
use. It had virtually no downtime in 2 years while I was there.
Developer for a credit enterprise system called VCP (Virtual Credit
Professional) with Windows web-based front end and HP-UX back end. This
system was a replacement for a third party-supplied credit system called
CCEx. Technologies included UNIX shell, Java, J2EE, Perl, Oracle and
Sybase.
Procured the hardware and had it installed in the HP data-centre in
Atlanta. Worked with the vendor in installing and customising the system
for HP use. Later served as the primary contact between the users and the
vendor in resolving either technical or licensing issues.
Worked with clients in redesigning the business processes to maximise the
use of the system and to simplify the back office work flow. Setup the
document classification systems for both groups; setup the historical
document archiving load for both business groups. This included purchasing
the scanners compatible with the system, setting up the bar code document
classification, preparing documentation, training the users and
troubleshooting any problems.
Participated in designing the technical architecture of the back end, the
credit decision-making engine, together with another developer in France
and project and program managers. The engine was a daemon running on HP-UX
server accessing Sybase and Oracle databases performing rule based credit
approval for deals submitted through the VCP front end and by several
external systems.
Co-designed Oracle database for VCP by remodelling the existing Sybase VCP
database. Performed full regression testing and performance testing and
comparison between the Sybase and Oracle. Performed data migration from
Sybase 11.5 to Oracle 8i on three regional production servers.
Performed end-to-end technical, functional and data support for the system
in all regions. This included patches, bug fixes, new releases,
troubleshooting as well as support and maintenance of the UAT environment.
Participated in all UAT activities.
Technologies included UNIX shell, Java, J2EE, Perl, Oracle
and Sybase
