Responsibilities as a NPI Engineer:
2G/GSM:
. Maintaining the Network performance KPI's by analyzing of Daily KPI stat
radio reports
. Plan SCFT and preparing CDD RF parameter for new sites
. Define acceptable KPIs to meet the client requirements.
. Fixed Frequency & Frequency Hopping planning for new as well as existing
sites BSIC & Neighbors planning
. Through a site audit process done earlier, load all the current design
data of the sites to be optimized in different planning tools such as
TCPU, MCOM, GOOGLE EARTH, MAPINFO-MIPT, etc.
. Find and troubleshoot all the problems related NCS, MRR,RNO etc
. Analyzing the Call Drop Reports, Handover Reports. Checking of Call Drops
due to Various Reasons, Blocking rate, Traffic carried, outgoing/Incoming
Handover success and Failure rate, call Setup success rate, TCH Drop and
signaling drop.
. Prepare daily and weekly reports for the planning section to the top
management
. To maintain all RF details as Antenna Orientation, Height of the GSM
antenna etc.
. LAC boundary, frequency planning.
. Preparing monthly/weekly KPI Exclusion sheet
. Capacity Reshuffling plan according to the requirement of network.
. Providing solutions for interference related problems & optimizing areas
for the same.
. Network Reports analysis. Analysis KPI report, Handover list
optimization, Parametric Optimization. Working on Map info Professional

. Frequency Planning. Work out on TCH drop, SDCCH drop, poor coverage,
add/remove neighbors, co/adj-channel interference and frequency retune.
. Optimizing the network coverage by making the changes at site like
changing azimuths, tilt, height of antenna etc. and by the analysis of
the OMC reports like TA report.
. KPI analysis via CSSR, Call Drop, SDCCH Drop, CSR, TCH Blocking, SDCCH
Blocking using OMC-R Reports.
. Consistency checks between OMC and RF plan and default parameters.
. Also responsible for evaluating the KPI (key performance Indicator).
. CERA- Coverage planning for rural areas
. Railway route planning & Highway planning.
. Customer interaction with taking care of customer complaints regarding
Network Coverage or other RF related issues.
. Prepare the CDDs for the new and upgrade sites
. Prepare the frequency plan for the entire network to meet the desired
network free of interference.
. Analysis the drive test log files using the TERMS INVESTIGATION.
. Responsible for MSS/BSC/ Site migration plan.
. Media cost optimization.
3G/WCDMA:
. Carried out optimization and Radio Frequency (RF) acceptance testing as
well as site survey and sector planning of new sites of rural areas.
. Providing Support to Implementation, Vendor & RF teams for Network Growth
& RF optimization activities and troubleshooting of fault & complete
operation & maintenance of various sites.
. Analyzing the predicted RF coverage by using software tools after
entering the site parameters. Selecting the right type of antenna as per
site requirement.
. Verifying clutter type (urban, suburban, rural, quasi open etc.).
. Verifying the initial and predicted coverage plots.
. Finalizing the Tower height, antenna orientations.
. Troubleshooting of the network based on customer complaints.
. Performance engineering (Analyzing traffic data for drops, congestion,
accessibility, traffic growth etc.) based on the KPIs on daily basis.
. Responsible for Drive Test (Pre Drive, Post Drive, Optimization and
Cluster).
. Responsible for Antenna Azimuth, Height & Tilt Planning, Cable Routing
etc.
. Analyzing in 3G(WCDMA) Interference, Call Drops, Handoff failures, IRAT
Handover failures, Common Pilot Channel Received Signal Code Power,
Common Pilot Channel Interference Ec/No, Scrambling Code and defining
Neighbors(3G AND 2G BOTH), Check relation b/w 3G and 2G etc.
. Handling optimization of new sites and handled problems like RAB Speech
drop, interference, IRAT handover failure, handover reversion, in-
building problem, antenna tilting, competitive Drive Test.
. Interference, addition of missing Neighbors & SC changes in order to
enhance main routes performance.
