EMPLOYMENT HIGHLIGHTS
9/2007- 2011 Associate Director of Clinical Pathology, HLS, Somerset N.J. (Clinical and Pre-Clinical Trials). Duties include but not limited to: Plan, coordinate and administer the operational, financial, and technical functions of the laboratory. Monitoring the quality and accuracy of results delivered with proficiency tests. Ensure that the lab is compliant with the most recent guidelines of accreditations and quality systems to include: FDA, GLP, GCP, CAP, CLIA, OSHA, JCAHO, and other governing agencies. Experience with recommending, implementing and tracking CAPAs. Key liaison responsible for harmonizing the testing of the ClinPath Lab in the UK with our USA site. In addition, duties also include and not limited to data management, equipment update and purchase, sample management, and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and a host of other major accomplishments. To ensure optimal team performance, implementation of the LEAN (Six Sigma) concepts throughout the Clinical Pathology Lab resulted in goal establishments in all areas.
10/2001 – 2007 Third- Shift Team Coordinator/Manager Sentara Norfolk General
Hospital Norfolk, VA.( 550 bed hospital) In charge of the Main Lab( Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology Labs) & Emergency Room Lab Staffing, Training, and Recruitment. Duties include but not limited to: Was chosen to train on the LEAN Project - (Six Sigma Green Belt Training)-Identified, evaluated and implemented optimal solutions based on data analysis to eliminate waste of reagents and supplies and reorganized staffing guidelines. Prepare lab for CAP, CLIA, JCAHO, and other inspections. Strategically coached staff to meet all testing turn around times – 85% of the time in 2006. Project & Financial Management and worked creatively with the staff to encourage innovation to initiate optimal achievements and to enhance laboratory output. This was even achieved while being occasionally short staffed on 3rd Shift.

Direct and perform troubleshooting of equipment and procedural problems. Maintain adequate & appropriate inventories of supplies. Perform and delegate evaluation of new procedures. Perform and direct drug screen collections for forensic analysis. Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures governing all aspects of the operation of the lab. Responsible for OSHA guidelines and the CAP. JCAHO, and CLIA inspections. Was the Safety Officer for the Lab.
4/1988 – 4/1994 Senior Medical Technologist – North Carolina Baptist Hospital (800 bed hospital) Winston-Salem, NC. Duties include but not limited to: General lab testing in the Chemistry department. Maintain orientation and training procedures for the laboratory employees and medical technology students from the school. Direct the quality assurance function and regularly identify topics for review. Performed seminars in the school system and lectures. Was responsible for all Chemistry quality control records and documentation of updated SOP’s and employee training track record. Performed proficient phlebotomy skills on a daily basis for over entire hospital.
9/1981 – 4/1988 Medical Technologist/Supervisor of Special Chemistry – Roche Biomedical Laboratories Burlington, NC. Duties include but not limited to: Recruited, assigned and trained laboratory personnel of 13 Medical Technicians in the Chemistry Department: coordinated employee evaluations, transfers, promotions, disciplinary and resignations. Developed, implemented, maintained policies and procedures governing all aspects of the operation on the laboratory. Evaluated production and revised procedures to improve efficiency and productivity. Assisted the director in assuring compliance with all governing agencies – CLIA, OSHA, JCAHO, CAP, Medicare, etc. Maintained department readiness for inspections. Worked directly with (2 )doctors on a research project of the Pre-Albumin Antiserum. The data that I researched and collected was sold to a major manufacturer of chemical reagents (Technicon).
