PERSONAL QUALITIES//EXPERIENCE

I first started Scaffolding at the age of 17 for SGB in Leeds, since then I have worked up from

labourer

to scaffolder, foreman, charge hand, supervisor, assessor, tutor.

Challenges I have faced throughout my career include erecting scaffolding for the Gherkin in

London using tube and fitting where we had to erect scaffolding twisting on a 35 deg angle.I have

also scaffolded a nuclear submarine.

I worked on Picadily Gardens renovations using SGB cup lock scaffold for Balfour Beatty,

Spinningfields in Manchester using Kwickform scaffolding in addition to working in confined

spaces erecting scaffolding in underground water holding tanks and working with Asbestos and other

dangerous substances including Power Stations,Petrol & Chemical sites.While at SGB I worked on

scaffolds within ICI/Astra Zenica in numerous locations also at GKN/Kwickform I worked at BP

Petro/Chem in Hull

2008 - Present Skills Solutions Scaffolding

Tutor

I am currently employed as a scaffolding tutor for Skill Solutions in Manchester. I have been

employed in this role since September 2008.

Whilst here I have completed my NVQ Level 3 H&S, First Aid Certificate and PTTLS ( Preparing to

Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector).

Feb 2005 - 2008 CITB NVQ Assessor

I was employed at CITB as a NVQ Assessor responsible for On Site Assessment and Training visual

assessments and portfolio assessments in access and rigging. I also gained my A1 Assessor Award.In

this time I also had 3 separate jobs at BP Hull on shut downs as Advanced Scaffolder

2001 - 2005 R.C.G Site Supervisor

As Site Supervisor I was responsible for a team of around 10 people supervising site activities and

enforcing/supervising health and safety systems. Projects worked on included new NHS hospitals,

Spinningfields, Granada Studios, United Utilities.Which also included 16 months on BP Hull

Petro/Chem

I also gained my Advanced Scaffolding and my Motorised Platform Certificate.

1999 - 2001 Hayrod Charge hand

I worked as a Charge hand Scaffolder on sites such as the Manchester City stadium & also shut

down work at Serastar Chemicals
