Kavlico is a manufacturer of Linier and Rotary Transducers used in the

Aerospace Industry to monitor movement and pressure for cockpit controls.

This equipment is used on both Commercial & Military Aircraft.

Prototypes Plus specialized in Rapid Part Prototyping using SLS (Selective

Laser Sintering), SLA (Stereo Lithography Apparatus), CNC Machining, and

Urethane Casting in RTV Molds.

Operations/Program Manager

Recruited to implement all necessary contract requirements for entry into

manufacturing Aerospace and Medical production products. This included

military flight hardware and medical parts for FDA clinical trials.

Program management included flight hardware for Boeing F-18 and working

with NAVAIR to approve new parts and processes. This program began with

initial manufacturing certification for a single part and over time

increased to over 100 P/N's including assemblies were added to contracts

that were ongoing through 2014. Program management for Zodiac was also

performed during this time. This included initial part and process

approval through certification for flight hardware on all Airbus model

numbers. Other program management projects included L3 Communications,

Lockheed-Martin, NASA-Ames, Northrop-Grumman, and JPL.

KIMBALL INTERNATIONAL - flexcel Power Drive Division, Jasper, IN

Jan. 2005 - Dec. 2005

The flexcel Power Drive Division of $1.1 billion Kimball International

provides customized manufacturing solutions to commercial, institutional

and government markets.

Engineering

Recruited to coordinate production of molded urethane foam parts (RIM),

overseeing six separate production lines, three paint lines and 130

employees. Responsible for continuous improvement in manufacturing

processes, labor, materials, and scrap reduction, as well as R&D of new

products and processes for manufacturing. Accountable for all material

formulations, equipment, drawing review, employee training, and

certifications. Also responsible for automated and manual production

methods including the application of in-mold release and paint consisting

of 1K and 2K systems.

. Managed a $1.5 million project developing a fully integrated robotic mold

release and paint application production line with PLC technology.

. Instituted a material receiving quality inspection plan that improved

product quality.

. Managed MRP for production

. Evaluated low-pressure molding equipment to augment high pressure molding

capabilities.

SOLID SPACE TECHNOLOGIES, LLC, Lindon, UT

April 1993 -December 2004

Manager

Established Solid Space Technologies to provide manufacturing research and

project management of a variety of new plastic molding and manufacturing

projects, offering complete cradle-to-grave research and manufacturing

solutions. Specialized in compounding and molding of thermoplastics and

thermosets materials, including mold design.

Manufacturing research included: (1) initial review of projects to ensure

manufacturability (2) review of all drawings and concepts for intellectual

property rights or patent infringement issues that might arise, (3)

manufacturing cost analysis - modeling costs, tooling, labor and materials,

(4) creation of models and 1st article prototypes, and (5) manufacture and

process engineering.

Project/Program Management included: (1) capital equipment research,

assembly line or manufacturing cell design, raw material review and vendor

qualification, validation, and approval, (2) tooling design and review,

including either in house manufacturing or outside contract manufacturing,

(3) recommendation of different types of tooling and vendors - either U.S.

or overseas - depending upon the type of tooling necessary in regards to

tolerances, finish, metal type, security issues, and budget, and (4)

training of production and quality departments in manufacturing process

controls and inspection methods at the conclusion of the project.

Recent Contracts:

. Medtronic/TriVirix (Project Engineering/Program Management) - Directed

process engineering, manufacturing engineering, and development of a

gastro intestinal line of catheters. Wrote and implemented lean

manufacturing procedures for clean room production. Designed new line of

catheters for 2005 implementation, using a partial robotic production

line to reduce labor by 70%.

. Edwards Lifesciences (Contract Engineering) - Primarily worked as a

materials process engineer and project manager developing a new line of

catheter used in heart surgeries. The process involved: (1) evaluation

and selection of new materials for FDA qualification and approval, (2)

development of a manufacturing method that would be repeatable for future

validation, (3) development of testing procedures that would meet FDA and

ISO requirements, and (4) pilot production and testing of the product,

and release of final product to production.

Re-defined the company's existing manufacturing procedures for bonding,

molding, and testing, as well as validating procedures recognized by the

FDA, and suggested new manufacturing processes. Developed materials and

manufacturing processes for future generations of products, including

automated molding and fixturing equipment to replace manual operations.

The project ended successfully and Edwards Lifesciences started full

production of the catheter line.

. NASA Morton Thiokol (Program/Project Management) - Directed the

development of lightweight foam raceways for the Solid Rocket Booster.

These raceways were developed to decrease the launch weight of the

vehicle and increase the payload size. This program included all

material & process certifications required for manned space flight.

After material & process was approved the program became more traditional

with NRE for the development of tooling & fixtures and schedules

developed and timeline established for delivery. Delivery schedule was

especially critical for this program because of all the other factors

that were melded together for launch times that were scheduled as far as

2 years in advance.

Education / Activities

Completed additional classes in Six Sigma, Toyota Manufacturing, and

computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,

Project, and Oracle MRP programs. I am also familiar with AutoCAD, Solid

Works, ProE and other 2D & 3D engineering design applications.

Set up and coordinated facility arrangements for the Ladies Hockey venue at

the 2002 Olympics held in Salt Lake City, UT, including an ice skating

rink, parking, security, and food service operations.

Instructed an Entrepreneurship class at Westminster College in Salt Lake

City, UT. Past member, of the Society for Aerospace Material and Process

Engineers (SAMPE) and Elks Lodge - Burbank, CA.
