Program management included flight hardware for Boeing F-18 and working
with NAVAIR to approve new parts and processes. This program began with
initial manufacturing certification for a single part and over time
increased to over 100 P/N's including assemblies were added to contracts
that were ongoing through 2014. Program management for Zodiac was also
performed during this time. This included initial part and process
approval through certification for flight hardware on all Airbus model
numbers. Other program management projects included L3 Communications,
Lockheed-Martin, NASA-Ames, Northrop-Grumman, and JPL.

SOLID SPACE TECHNOLOGIES, LLC, Lindon, UT
April 1993 -December 2004
Manager
Established Solid Space Technologies to provide manufacturing research and
project management of a variety of new plastic molding and manufacturing
projects, offering complete cradle-to-grave research and manufacturing
solutions. Specialized in compounding and molding of thermoplastics and
thermosets materials, including mold design.
Manufacturing research included: (1) initial review of projects to ensure
manufacturability (2) review of all drawings and concepts for intellectual
property rights or patent infringement issues that might arise, (3)
manufacturing cost analysis - modeling costs, tooling, labor and materials,
(4) creation of models and 1st article prototypes, and (5) manufacture and
process engineering.
Project/Program Management included: (1) capital equipment research,
assembly line or manufacturing cell design, raw material review and vendor
qualification, validation, and approval, (2) tooling design and review,
including either in house manufacturing or outside contract manufacturing,
(3) recommendation of different types of tooling and vendors - either U.S.
or overseas - depending upon the type of tooling necessary in regards to
tolerances, finish, metal type, security issues, and budget, and (4)
training of production and quality departments in manufacturing process
controls and inspection methods at the conclusion of the project.
. Product Development Process (PDP)
. Strategic Deployment Process (SDP)
. Key Performance Index Process (KPI)
. Non Recurring Costs & Budgets (NRE)
. Risk Assessment & Design Review
. Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
Recent Contracts:
. Medtronic/TriVirix (Project Engineering/Program Management) - Directed
process engineering, manufacturing engineering, and development of a
gastro intestinal line of catheters. Wrote and implemented lean
manufacturing procedures for clean room production. Designed new line of
catheters for 2005 implementation, using a partial robotic production
line to reduce labor by 70%.
. Edwards Lifesciences (Contract Engineering) - Primarily worked as a
materials process engineer and project manager developing a new line of
catheter used in heart surgeries. The process involved: (1) evaluation
and selection of new materials for FDA qualification and approval, (2)
development of a manufacturing method that would be repeatable for future
validation, (3) development of testing procedures that would meet FDA and
ISO requirements, and (4) pilot production and testing of the product,
and release of final product to production.
Re-defined the company's existing manufacturing procedures for bonding,
molding, and testing, as well as validating procedures recognized by the
FDA, and suggested new manufacturing processes. Developed materials and
manufacturing processes for future generations of products, including
automated molding and fixturing equipment to replace manual operations.
The project ended successfully and Edwards Lifesciences started full
production of the catheter line.
. NASA Morton Thiokol (Program/Project Management) - Directed the
development of lightweight foam raceways for the Solid Rocket Booster.
These raceways were developed to decrease the launch weight of the
vehicle and increase the payload size. This program included all
material & process certifications required for manned space flight.
After material & process was approved the program became more traditional
with NRE for the development of tooling & fixtures and schedules
developed and timeline established for delivery. Delivery schedule was
especially critical for this program because of all the other factors
that were melded together for launch times that were scheduled as far as
2 years in advance.
Education / Activities
Completed additional classes in Six Sigma, Toyota Manufacturing, and
computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
Project, and Oracle MRP programs. I am also familiar with AutoCAD, Solid
Works, ProE and other 2D & 3D engineering design applications.
Set up and coordinated facility arrangements for the Ladies Hockey venue at
the 2002 Olympics held in Salt Lake City, UT, including an ice skating
rink, parking, security, and food service operations.
Instructed an Entrepreneurship class at Westminster College in Salt Lake
City, UT. Past member, of the Society for Aerospace Material and Process
Engineers (SAMPE) and Elks Lodge - Burbank, CA.
