Dear Sir/Madam

Application for the position of Business Process Manager, Cochrane, Alberta

I am applying for the position of Business Process Manager for your client in Cochrane, Alberta. I believe my skills and experience acquired over many years in supporting accounting, administrative and operational functions in organizations ranging from Exxon-Mobil to small start ups provide with me a very unique perspective which will benefit your client.

I have extensive experience in all of the major areas described in the job description albeit from an IT orientation.

As a systems analyst by training, process analysis and design are fundamental skills that I have employed on most projects and I have refined my own techniques for documenting policies, processes and procedures. These three elements are tightly linked, but so often confused by organizations.

During my career in IT management I have managed up to 100 staff, and I have always coached and mentored dysfunctional work groups into highly efficient and productive teams. In doing so, I have always arrested the high staff turnover of my predecessors.

From running my own consulting company, I am familiar with accounting systems and very comfortable performing the basic general ledger and tax compliance functions. More importantly, I have supported the corporate accounting systems of two energy organizations in Calgary for the past 8 years, and have trained the accountants and operations staff. In this respect I have had to know more than the business users.

I note that you will give preference to a candidate who has progressed through the Executive Assistant or Administrative Assistant roles to the status of Office Manager. However, I would ask that you consider seriously my background also which I believe is more relevant to the actual job requirements stated in the job description.

I attach my resume for your consideration.

Yours truly

Simon C. Rogers
