2009 - 11/29/11: VICE PRESIDENT - NAS Surety (SwissRe) - San Francisco, CA

I opened a new office in San Francisco, CA on March 30, 2009.

2004 - 2009: AREA MANAGER - First National Surety (Liberty Mutual) - Concord, CA

Responsible for Underwriter and Customer Service Representatives in my assigned territory which was north of Bakersfield, CA to the Oregon border and northern Nevada servicing nearly 60 assigned agents and 120 accounts. Written premium was nearly $3.5MM for 2007, which reflects a growth of 9% over 2006. Combined ratio for my office in 2007 was 64.94. 2008 numbers were even better than this!

2000 - 2004: SENIOR UNDERWRITER - First National Surety - Santa Ana, CA

Responsibilities included underwriting of small contractors for bid, performance and payment bonds. Performed credit verifications for banks and suppliers, review of business and personal credit reports, called prior job references from previous project Owners, provided excellent service and interfaced with assigned agents in Southern California, Arizona and Nevada region.

1999 - 2000: ACCOUNT MANAGER - Wood Gutmann Insurance Brokers, Tustin, CA

Responsibilities included the offering of support to Producer for both insurance and bond accounts, interface with clients, underwriters and my superiors while managing the performance of clerical staff to assure excellent service to our clients.

1997 - 2000: PRODUCER - Van Oppen & Co. - Fullerton, CA

Responsibilities included telemarketing insurance and bond accounts, marketing new and all out of state renewal business. Offered quotes to accounts, negotiated terms and bound coverage`s with various insurance companies. Serviced account to expiration and renewal process. Sole bond expert within the agency & established direct appointments with many sureties.

1988 - 1996: VICE PRESIDENT/OFFICE MANAGER - Surety Bonds Insurance Services - Tustin, CA

Managed bond and insurance departments, marketed new business/renewals, and performed tele-marketing for new business. Also handled our office accounts payable, receivable, new employee hiring, training and management of their performance to assure excellent service to our customers. Also wrote office practices and procedures and performed as key computer operator/technician on Applied Systems.

1987 - 1988: UNDERWRITER - Amwest Surety Insurance Company - Westminster, CA

Responsibilities included underwriting of small and large contract bid, performance and subdivision bonds. Secured collateral in the form of an ILOC, Certificate of Deposit, Deed of Trust on appraised property, or funds control. Other duties included performing credit verifications from banks and suppliers, reviewing business and personal credit reports, financial information and obtaining prior references from previous project Owners. Also provided excellent service to Agents and direct office accounts while coordinating my efforts with our Los Angeles area Home Office.
