Sarah Yatsko is a Senior Research Analyst at the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) at the University of
Washington in Seattle, Washington where she has worked since 2007. During her time at CRPE she has conducted
research and analysis on the efficacy of U.S. public school system reforms. Her work has included research and overall
project organizational support for the U.S. Department of Education funded four-year Inside Charter Schools study,
researcher and lead author on a study of school turnaround work in schools and districts awarded school improvement
grants and comprehensive case studies of dramatic district-wide reform efforts in Hartford, CT, Baltimore, MD, and
Cleveland, OH. Sarah has authored several reports on topics ranging from charter high schools, district performance
analysis, school turnaround and narrative case studies of portfolio school districts. She has presented her research to
school districts, communities and several national education conferences and her work has been cited on NPR, The New
York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Sarah is currently lead researcher on a Gates Foundation initiative to fund and
analyze collaboration between school districts and local charter schools. Prior to CRPE, Sarah worked for a decade with
adjudicated youth as a sentencing alternative expert and lead research and authored reports on juvenile criminal legal
representation and barriers to employment for public assistance recipients.
