In my current role as Vice President of Operations for this electronics distribution company, I was tasked with the responsibility of closing two Warehouse Facilities and starting up a new Distribution Center. Serve as Senior Manager responsible for optimizing the operations of ZEIKOS via the streamlining of processes and cost efficiencies. Managed a team of 40 permanent employees and up to 85, this included a fluctuating part-time staff for special projects.

* Direct business relationships, activities and processes across all functions. Restructured the entire operations of the Office and Distribution Center by finding synergies and bucketing responsibilities into teams.

* Responsible for the establishment of a new Distribution Center, moving two warehouses from Jersey City to one Distribution Center in Edison NJ. This included: 1) the management of contracts for office construction, Security monitoring system, racking, RF system, building leases, operating costs and wiring; and 2) the maintenance of contractual relationships, reviewing and approving all invoices to be paid to suppliers and contractors.

* Work in tandem with the CFO in the annual budget process for the Distribution Center.

* Prepare weekly payroll along with warehouse temporary workers.

* Reduced freight costs in excess of $50,000 annually through negotiations with foreign and domestic freight companies.

* Reduced the costs supplies and corrugated Boxes in excess of $30,000 annually through negotiations with various suppliers.

* Enhanced the warehouse management computer system to maximize operational efficiencies. Responsible for its implementation, roll-out, training of staff and continued up-keep to ensure optimization.

* Responsible for the reduction of costs in the operations of the warehouse. To this effect, negotiated discounts with various clients and contractors, reduced charge-backs, restructured personnel and minimized waste in the department.

* Worked with the warehouse systems provider to improve or upgrade various warehouse operations designed to deliver efficiencies or savings.

* Evaluate all major customer shipping orders along with the factory/delivery orders for quality check and to ensure ability to meet customer demands. Liaise with traffic, sales and warehouse department to verify accuracy and timeliness of deliveries.

* Responsible for the hiring of contractors in the building of the new distribution center and the staffing up of employees.

Highlights include:

Negotiated with contractors and reduced cost before signing contracts/agreements.

Sent out bids for Racking to various companies. Worked with staff in optimizing pricing options.

Cut all overtime in the Distribution Center, working a max of 40 hrs. Sunday-work fully eliminated in the Distribution Center while maintaining production levels, significantly reducing overtime expense.

Negotiated with UPS a very aggressive tier discount on ground rates and 82% on LTL shipments.

Worked with a Freight Broker who searches for the best rates, delivering tremendous savings.

Reduced container cost from $325 to $275 per container.

Establish a communication for the logistics of the containers as they arrive in the US.

Worked with an E-commerce Company to develop a process to pick and ship direct to consumer.

Negotiated and received substantial savings on all our supplies.

For the New Warehouse project, established the processes for the storage rack fulfillment and storage.
