Worked as an Inbound, Outbound, Winder Assist, Mill Utility, Field, Winder Operator and Dry End Technician. Inbound Duties included unloading OCC bales off of Semis with a bale clamp truck. Then loading them onto a conveyor to be consumed in a hydra pulper. Outbound included taking a finished 3.5 ton roll of liner board and loading it in a Semi or placing it in the warehouse in it's desired upright location. Mill Utility included filling in wherever needed, whether it meant giving breaks of giving a hand or just emptying dumpsters. Winder Utility ran the 40 ton Capacity crane with a 26 ton parent reel at every turn up and brought the parent reel down to the winder crew. Winder assist helped with all aspects of the winder, including measuring, placing the correct labels on the finished rolls. Running the labels computer. Helping out the Winder Operator with core cutting and cleanup. Winder Operator meant running the winder and making sure there were no flaws in the liner board that was being run off. Cutting cores, making adjustments to the winder as the schedule dictated and made log entries at the end of every shift. Field Tech basically was in charge of Stock Prep. Making sure that all chemical totes had product in them and filling them accordingly. Check readings and perform solids tests twice a shift. Making sure the ragger tail is still in the pulper and making a new tail if it broke off. Also responsible for stock prep cleanup at the end of every shift. Dry End Tech is responsible for all operations on the dry end of the paper machine. From sheet quality and strength to steam adjustments in conjunction with Xcel Energy. Turn up each parent reel and performs a battery of tests on the paper to make sure everything is in spec.
