A cloud (Amazon EC2) based search engine. Consists of a scalable distributed crawler based on free pastry, an Indexing and

a Page rank engine based on Elastic MapReduce and a web frontend developed in PHP and jQuery.

Wrote components for indexing, calculating Page rank and results ranking heuristics.

An application that allows a user to upload and share photos with other users.

Created a friend-

circle management page that could perform every operation by just dragging and dropping.

Created a friendship browser using JIT that allows a user to browse his friends graphically.

Designed the database schema and wrote code for friend recommendations.

Sentiment Analysis Oct 2011 Dec 2011

Created a tool that reads the text of a user review for a product listing at Amazon and performs sentiment analysis to

predict the rating given by the user to that product. A model is trained with a large set of examples using machine-

learning

methods.

Enhanced the feature set of the data by applying my own text filtering method leading to a reduction in the root mean

square error from 1.428 to 0.983.

EXTRA CURRICULAR PROJECTS

Internet Radio Jan 2011 April 2011

The application allows a user to create their own internet radio stations and broadcast media that many other users can

listen to simultaneously. The radio station can stream song playlists as well as voice.

Used the RTP protocol to send multicast data packets from source to different destinations.

Altered the initial project architecture in a way that reduced the server load to less than half.

Cooperative Environment for Visually Challenged May 2010 Dec 2010

Developed interface for visually challenged facilitating access of computers with regular hardware devices.

Incorporated screen reading, News Feeds, Music Player, Journal & Typing Tutor facilities in the project.
