I am looking for a senior level IT position in a healthcare organization. My ideal position would combine the value of IT and process improvement to accomplish the following:

* Improve patient care and the patient experience

* Improve physician satisfaction by giving them the information they need; when and wherever they

need it

* Increase the hospital`s bottom line

* Improve patient satisfaction scores

* Buffer the hospital from their competition

* Provide patients better access to both general care and specialty care through telemedicine

* Improve every department within the hospital by aligning IT with business needs

* Streamline the employee`s workflow to move them from paper shuffling back to patient care or from the repetitious and mundane to the productive and necessary.

Professional Experience:

Rutherford Regional Health System - MIS Operations Manager (January 2011 to April 2012)

Rutherford Hospital is a stand-alone, non-profit, community based Meditech Magic shop located in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. It has 150 beds with 7 hospital owned clinics and 800+ employees.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Improving the technical infrastructure and ancillary systems for the migration from Meditech Magic 5.63 to Meditech 6.0 and meeting Meaningful Use

2. Prioritizing all outstanding projects and jump starting those projects that need to be moved forward

3. Improving communication on the status of IT systems, project`s, and work orders

4. Improving the existing IT systems by upgrading technical infrastructure and processes

5. Integrating newly acquired clinics into the current infrastructure

6. Implementing basic project management to be followed on all projects

7. Working with department managers to determine a projects total cost and impacts

8. Improving the efficiency of the help desk

9. Managing day-to-day operations of the IT team

Major accomplishments:

1. Implemented new hardware (SAN, Servers, Network, etc.) in preparation for migration from Meditech Magic to Meditech 6.0

2. Migrated from Active Directory 2000 to 2008 R2 and from Exchange Server 2003 to 2010

3. Migrated 6 physician clinics into the hospitals existing infrastructure

4. Implemented multiple new clinical systems

5. Implemented a new help desk system

6. Documented all computer systems and hardware in order to properly budget and plan

Bozeman Deaconess Hospital (BDH) - Manager of IS and Telecom (September 2004 to August 2010)

BDH is a Meditech Magic and NextGen hospital located in Bozeman, Montana. They are 86 beds with 11 hospital owned clinics, 2 retail pharmacies, an independent and assisted living facility, and 1300+ employees.

Responsibilities included:

1. Strategic planning and process improvement for applications and infrastructure

2. Ensuring BDH IT and Telecom met the hospitals business needs through process improvement and the judicious use of technology

3. Creating and managing capital and operational budgets

4. Integrating hospital acquired clinics into the Bozeman Deaconess system

5. Serving as the HIPPA security officer

6. Transitioning BDH from a paper-based medical record to an Electronic Medical Record.

7. Managing day-to-day operations of the team

Major Accomplishments:

Management

1. Oversaw the expansion of the team from 3 to 12

2. Managed 3.5 million in capital projects each year within a 2% variance

3. Managed 1.75 million in operational expenses to within a 3% variance

4. Introduced project management and project oversight to the hospital

5. Ensured the hospital met the HITECH Act and Meaningful Use requirements

6. Implemented a relationship with Montana State University`s Engineering department that brought industrial engineering process improvement and lean technology into hospital projects

7. Part of the Leadership Development team, the Legal Medical Record team, the Clinical Informatics committee, the Project Planning team, and the Going Green Environmental team.

Implementations

1. NextGen - Managed the selection process of the system, vendor negotiations, and consensus building among 20+ independent physician practices to use NextGen to create a true community wide EMR. Oversaw the hardware configuration and build, built the team to install, train, and manage the system, and assisted the legal department with the changes in the Stark Law

2. Amicas PACS - Implemented PACS into the hospital and deployed the system to 30+ physician practices

3. Dictaphone PowerScribe & EWS - Reduced the Radiologist turn-around time from 24-72 hours to less than 30 minutes and cut the hospitals transcription cost by over 50%

4. Omnicell Medication dispensing units - Deployed Omnicell units through out the hospital. The Omnicells reduced the number of locations nurses had to look for medications from 5 to 2 and increased revenue capture by $225,000 for 2009

5. Meditech Nursing documentation, eMAR, and BMV - Implemented all 3 systems in 11 months to 7 departments and 500 users. These systems increased revenue capture $70,000 and directly prevented 252 medications errors for 2009.

Facilities

Oversaw the computer and telephony setup for the following:

1. New cancer center

2. Rehabilitation services department

3. Imaging center

4. A new hospital tower

5. Integration of 11 physician practices into BDH`s systems.

Burdette Tomlin Hospital - Manager of IS and HIPAA Security Officer (March 2003 to August 2004)

Burdette Tomlin is a Meditech Magic shop located in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. It is a 242 bed facility.

Responsibilities Included:

1. Managing the reorganization of the IS team and the day-to-day operations of the team

2. Strategic planning for applications and infrastructure

3. Creating and managing both capital and operational budgets (2.5 million and 1.2 million respectively).

Major Accomplishments:

1. Implemented Meditech`s Bedside Medication Verification system (1st non-HCA facility to implement the system)

2. Implemented McKesson`s pharmacy dispensing robot

3. Increased user satisfaction levels from a 2 to a 4 (on a 5 point scale).

First USA Bank - VP Information Systems - Manager of Quality Assurance (May 2000 to March 2003)

Responsibilities included:

1. Creating, implementing and supporting the Project Management Office and the underlying project management methodology

2. Managing the Quality Assurance department and the Project Management Office

3. Managing the quality assurance review of all projects and changes implemented into production

4. Managing an annual operational budget of approximately 7 million

5. Managing a staff of 60 consisting of 10 direct reports and 50 staff.

Major Accomplishments:

1. Created a Program Management Office, PMO, and project management process for the IS department that was implemented corporate wide

2. Implemented the first Project Management Office for the bank

3. Oversaw the quality assurance review of approximately 400 projects and 8500 changes per year

4. Changed the Quality department from an audit role to an enabler role

5. Managed the QA and PMO budgets and came in under budget by 2% - 3% every year.
