Assisted in design and programming of several document image systems

utilizing a PC platform with MS/Windows, Visual BASIC, and ACCESS. These

applications included APPC interface's with Legacy IBM MVS CICS/DB2 systems.

Document Image system components included high-speed document scanner,

high-resolution monitor, and optical disk storage sub-systems.

Planned, designed programmed, and implemented the migration of MVS

COBOL/IDMS Personnel Medical Information system to a DEC VAX/VMS, Rdb,DECForms

environment. Project team of 5 completed system per specification, schedule, and

budget. Included mainframe interface with corporate DB2 Human Resources system

at remote site.

Completed design and program specifications for a POS sales tax

application, which utilized the power of a mainframe driven SNA network coupled

with the real time value of a POS LAN. System components included mainframe

VSAM, IMS, CICS, and VTAM with local OEM/POS communications and applications

modules.

Managed POS/Mainframe communication conversion project for a retail

business client. Introduction of newer technology POS platform provided the

opportunity to convert from Bi-synch to SNA based communication network. Changes

to software on POS and mainframe system included CICS/VSAM COBOL, Basic

Assembler Language (BAL) subroutines and batch COBOL modifications in MVS,

ROSCOE, TSO environment.

Conducted EDI Feasibility study for Hospital Purchasing department. The

project included reviewing the clients installed single Vendor PC based EDI

system and MVS based Purchasing system, quantifying the cost of replacing the

existing application with a mainframe based translation and interface process /

system, as well as utilizing a Value Added communications vendor.

Performed Programmer/Analyst function on Paper Mill Equipment Maintenance

and Repair System. Responsibilities included installing and modifying customer's

CICS VSAM COBOL programs in IBM/VSE operating environment.

Designed, programmed, and implemented an Operator-less End-User batch job

submission system in a IBM VM/VSE operating environment. Tasks included custom

programming using VM based ISPF and REXX, as well as VSE based COBOL, Quickjob

utility language, IDMS, and VSAM.
