RESEARCH INTERESTS
The general theme of my research is centered around understanding, modeling, characteriza-
tion, and management of subsurface energy resources and environmental systems. My current
research focus is on application of signal processing, estimation, and control theory in
stochastic
description of geologic heterogeneity, prediction of flow and transport behavior, and
efficient
development of subsurface environmental and energy resources. The current research
projects
in my group include feature-based estimation techniques that respect natural geologic
conti-
nuity, sparse reconstruction and pattern identification methods for subsurface
characterization,
large-scaledataassimilation andparameterestimation methodsunder uncertain priorstructural
continuity models, effective imagingalgorithmsforcharacterization ofhydrocarbon,
geothermal,
storagereservoirs,andmodel-reducedsubsurfacedescription,identification,andcontrol andCO

for optimal design and development of underground resources.
