2002 -Current GM Project Engineer, Stack Design/ Cell Design Group, GM Fuel Cell Activities

Design Release Engineer/Technical Lead developing electroplating supplier for novel nano thickness gold coatings. Co-developed high volume continuous process that reduced the cost by over 75%. Worked with supplier to understand the key process controls to improve durability and quality of the gold coating, develop technical specifications, supervise/inspect all production runs of material to ensure quality gold plated steel for use in fuel cell engines, lead for production contract sourcing of supplier for vehicle program.

Design Release Engineer for Cell Integration. Invented and developed semi-automated system for thermal integration (heat seal) of components together and laser trim of final assembly. Responsible for prints, specifications, process development/optimization, and ensuring quality.

Design Engineer supporting projects in all aspects of bipolar plate/cell design. Stamped metal bipolar plates distribute air/hydrogen/coolant in fuel cell engine. Concept development and down select, design/print creation, manufacturing, testing, problem solving, DFMEA, and data analysis.

Project Lead for mechanical testing of fuel cell components. Invent and develop unique mechanical tests to understand durability of fuel cell components. Testing involved MTS tensile/stress/strain, cyclic fatigue, environmental (temp/rh), creep, electrical conductivity, and corrosion.

2000-2002 GM Project Engineer, Gasoline Fuel Processing Group, GM Fuel Cell Activities.

Successfully completed projects on 3 generations of gasoline steam reforming reactors for production of H2 gas to be used in a fuel cell engine. Design and manufacture of components. Responsible for build and test of fuel processors from start to finish. Designed and tested Gasoline Combustors (burners) for rapid heating of fuel processors.

1999-2000 CDI Engineering (Contract House), GM Fuel Cell Activities, Honeoye Falls, NY

Test Engineer for Fuel Processor team. Successfully completed startup projects for Gasoline and Methanol fuel processing. This incorporated designing the test stands, researching and ordering of equipment and hardware, building test stands, installing plumbing and wiring, TIG welding, Labview/Bridgeview control conception, calibration and debugging of controls, stand maintenance, and running test stands for data collection/analysis. Have extensive AutoCad experience performing mechanical layouts and designing parts for manufacture. Also interact with vendors on machining of parts and equipment procurement.
