RELATED EXPERIENCE
Burn Unit, UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento,CA
As a volunteer in the Burn unit at UC Davis, I perform many tasks
and assist others with duties, which they may need help. I am on
the unit almost every day of the week, approximately 30 hours a
week. Some of my tasks and responsibilities include setting up the
wound care carts, help stock the patients rooms with appropriate
supplies, ensure that the patients wound care time coordinates with
a time suitable for the attending RN, and performing wound care
on the patient with the RN. The majority of my time is spent
performing wound care, as well as helping make sure that the unit
is in order and that the RN’s surrounding environment is well kept
which makes their day-to-day objectives more organized. I have
learned a great deal while on the unit as each and every patient
presents its own unique challenges. The Burn Unit has enabled me
to grow as an RN in many ways, as every patient not only suffers
burn injuries, but other co-morbidities and disease processes, thus
making the nursing process that much more comprehensive. I
believe that my hours have prepared me to be a successful RN,
enabling me to take care of a wide variety of patients. Not only
have I been given a terrific skill set, but also a confidence to
perform patient care at an optimal level.

Dear Hiring Manager,
I came across your posting on Craigslist, and I am very interested in the RN
position. I am very interested in being a part of a home healthcare organization as I feel
that the wide variety of patient’s is perfectly suitable for me. I graduated from Samuel
Merritt(April ’12) where I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. In addition to
my BSN, I also hold a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, which has continually
enhanced my learning as a nurse. I believe that my experience coupled with my
knowledge and passion for nursing makes me a prime candidate for this position and I
know that I am someone your organization can be proud to employ.
During my time at Samuel Merritt University, I obtained excellent knowledge and
a superb skill set. I have a demonstrated ability in providing excellent patient care, which
focused on all aspects of an individual including physical, emotional, spiritual, and
psychosocial. My preceptorship at Mercy Methodist in the Intensive Care Unit has given
me confidence and capabilities to work synergistically with other healthcare
professionals. I am an enthusiastic and full-hearted individual who puts the patients’
safety and well being first above all else. My time spent at UC Davis in the Burn Unit has
helped amplify my nursing proficiency to an exceedingly high level and it is has been
here where I have gained invaluable knowledge and experience. The education I received
provided me with a solid foundation in nursing knowledge and techniques, as well as
prioritization and exceptional communication skills. These capabilities combined with
my experience provide me with an excellent starting skill set.
I need you to know that I find myself to be exceedingly dedicated and passionate
when it comes to the practice of nursing, and are the true strengths behind my excellence
in nursing. This letter combined with my resume only shows a portion of whom I am and
I would very much like the opportunity to further discuss with you my background,
qualifications, and interests. I can be reached via my email at **********@*****.*** or
you may call me at (916) 335-074. I look forward to hearing from you and wish you the
best.
Sincerely,
Andrew Craig Reilly
