To whom it may concern:
In addition to being a Math Teacher for currently eleven years, I
have also been both the Lead Senior Activities Advisor (9/06- 6/11) and
Assistant to Lead Advisor (9/02-9/06). As the Assistant, I aided the Lead
Advisor by maintaining the monetary records through Excel spreadsheets,
notebooks and receipt books. I also helped to make sure that students paid
their various dues and payments on time. By being an Assistant, I gave the
Lead Advisor the opportunity to have the office open more frequently during
the day for students to make payments and obtain information.
As Lead Senior Activities Advisor, my responsibilities included
budgeting; event planning; and organizing various events and records. I've
had the privilege to plan such activities as the prom, graduation trips, in-
school events, etc. Such activities required me to create a budget,
relationship with outside vendors (i.e. hotels, catering halls, DJ) and
maintain accounts that averaged $30,000 each. Throughout the years, various
fundraising tools were used to aid the seniors in their payment of various
monetary responsibilities.
I also served as the Rainbow Alliance Advisor for a year during this
timeframe. As Advisor to the RA, I served not only as a liaison for the
students in the school but in the outside community as well. We held
various meetings throughout the year among members, staff and
representatives from the community. At these meetings, we would try to come
up with strategies of implementing tolerance and acceptance among the
school community. Students would also partake in outside events such as
pride marches, day of silence, etc.
From February, 2009 through September 2010, I served on my schools
Leadership Team. As a member, I had the opportunity to attend once a month
meeting that consisted of several teachers; administrators; parents and
students. At these meetings, we worked on the schools Comprehensive
Education Plan (CEP). The CEP comprised of future goals we had for the
school. These goals ranged from courses that should be revamped to better
accommodate the students of different cultures, learning abilities, social
lifestyles, etc. to budgetary changes that should occur. Although my time
on the Leadership Team was brief, I definitely seen the impact that our
changes made to the school and the community around it.
I look forward to hearing back from you in the near future and to
discuss the position further.
Thank you very much for your time and cooperation in this regard. If
you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
With Highest Regards,
Jennifer Tokash
