RESEARCH Insight: Enabling Mobile Application Analytics and Network Measurements
- Designed and implemented a framework for application developers that collects mobile
application analytics as well as performs network measurements.
- Performed a long term measurement study using the framework (spanning across 2 years)
across thousands of smartphone users (> 2,00,000 users) on multiple cellular/WiFi
networks.
- Used to framework to determine the factors influencing application usage on
smartphones.
Further, by coupling network measurements along with application analytics, Insight also
helped understand how network performance drives application usage on smartphones.
AirTrack: Locating Non-WiFi Interferers using Commodity WiFi Hardware
- Worked on developing a system, Airshark, that identifies non-WiFi devices (e.g.,
Analogphones,
FHSS devices) present in the environment using commodity WiFi cards.
- Using the Airshark platform, developed a system called AirTrack that segregates
transmissions from multiple non-WiFi devices of the same type operating simultaneously
and
determines their physical locations without knowing their transmit power.
OTHER Diagnosing Problems in Wireless LANs through Passive Analysis Network Measurement
on UW
PROJECTS Campus
- Conducted active network measurements on UW-Madison Campus through network wide
deployment of nodes to determine the jitter characteristics of the network traffic on
some
major links carrying high bandwidth video transmissions.
Study performance of !ndroid s internal file systems.
- Analyzed the performance of a popular file system used on Android devices (YAFFS2) by
benchmarking performance of various components (garbage collection, check-pointing etc.).
Proposed and implemented mechanisms to improve the wear-leveling performance.
AWARDS/ - Awarded student travel grants for MobiCom 2011 and IMC 2011.
th
ACHIEVEMENTS - Selected for the 6 Indo-German Winter Academy (2007) held in collaboration
between the
IITs and University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.
EXTRA - Head of the Website team for Techniche 07 (The annual technical festival at IIT
Guwahati).
CURRICULARS - Organized System-32, an on-the-spot Windows XP contest during Techniche 07.
- Dedicated quizzer and have won many laurels for my college and school.
- Completed courses in Ice Skating and Ballroom Dancing at UW Madison.
