I have learned a lot from the nursing profession. I have learned to empathize without feeling pity, to get people to trust me with their most secret information, to bring families together, to give hope without false reassurance. I have applied these experiences to other aspects of life with success. Nursing is about everything. It is holistic. It means considering everything about an individual, even the things that are so abundant in some places, yet so scarce in others such as food. Food and nutrition are basic necessities in life, but for individuals who are sick, nutrition becomes a central focus. I have had the experience taking care of patients who require such a focus on nutrition-such as cancer patients, and HIV/AIDS patients. Sometimes with these patients, it is a question of choice. Now, i am working with patients who have nothing to choose from. These are homeless patients whose health needs require sufficient amounts of food, but sometimes go for days without a real meal. My job does not only entail meeting their medical needs, but also scouting the community for places where they can get food for free. So food alone, and how to get people to access sources of food is very important to me. My professional experience helps me see life differently.

Community Service
I have been a long time volunteer and continue to be in any community i have lived in. In Miami, i volunteered for Jobs with Justice and was on the Board of Directors for a very brief period prior to moving to Delaware. While in Delaware, i continued to volunteer with my local Presbyterian Church at various community functions. I am a volunteer for the Red Cross in Charlotte and often volunteer time at local soup kitchens with the Cameroonian Community of Charlotte.
Interests
I am a huge advocate for equality and social justice. Homelessness is an unfortunate reality in our community, and working at C.W Williams has given me the opportunity to help this vulnerable population.
I enjoy working, sports, (soccer, tennis) reading, volunteering and meeting people from other cultures and other professions in our community.
