Vice President, Research and Development

New Technology and Product Development

New Process Technology Engineering / Packaging Innovation

Engineered Materials / Consumer & Industrial Products

With extensive background in the consumer and industrial product sectors, as well as recent environmental services experience, Mr. O`Dell`s career track started in the material sciences, manufacturing and technology arena and progressed to senior technology management roles in both a Fortune 100 company, and one heralded as Fortune magazine`s Most Admired Company. His success as a VP in a post IPO start-up, led to becoming the CEO of another start-up during its initial funding phase. Mr. O`Dell has held key positions in divisions of highly regarded organizations, including International Paper Decorative Products, Rubbermaid, and Nevamar Corporation. He`s served at the most senior level in start-up companies focused on developing and marketing sustainable products.

Initially recruited to lead the development of technologies required to produce innovative new products for Amylex Corporation as the Senior Vice President of R&D, Mr. O`Dell was asked to take the Chief Executive Officer position to lead the start-up funding activities. In that capacity, Mr. O`Dell led the initial company organization, raised over $9 million of equity financing in two preferred stock offerings, developed several strategic alliances, established product distribution, and launched the first low cost bio-based food service products available in North America. Stepping into the CTO position to oversee the technology, engineering, and new product development for the production phase, Mr. O`Dell continued to expand the intellectual property portfolio and continued to be central to the overall development of the company.

After funding ended for Amylex, Mr. O`Dell stepped out of the paper, plastics and biodegradables world to pursue opportunities in the metallurgical and petroleum industries. During his time with Gulf Chemical and Metallurgical Corporation Mr. O`Dell was able to leverage his background in project management, engineering and chemistry while coordinating research on process and business development initiatives for the company. As part of the assignment, Mr. O`Dell focused on investigating alternate feed stocks, new process technology while providing leadership for the organization utilizing LEAN, Six Sigma, OEE and FMEA.
