Research Themes and Projects
Auctions with a profit sharing contract:
? Proved that profit sharing contracts offer greater revenue from auctioning a resource
than one-time
payment; this provides a comparison of the FCC spectrum auctions and India s 3G spectrum
auction.
? Analyzed revenue consequences of bidding with securities tied to the realized value of
the resource.
Pricing cloud service:
? Demonstrated that fixed price alone gives higher revenue than using both fixed and
market based
pricing; this provides a comparison of Windows Azure and Amazon EC2 pricing models.
Structure and welfare properties of revenue maximizing package auctions:
? Quantified and obtained bounds on the loss in the realized welfare by revenue
maximizing auctions;
characterized revenue maximizing auctions for a benchmark class of package bidding
problems.
Others:
? Identified conditions under which large stochastic games can be approximated by mean
field approach.
? Developed a novel machine learning based scheme for ad-hoc sensor network localization.
? Developed low complexity algorithms for multiuser detection in wireless communication.
Vineet Abhishek 2
? Developed low feedback protocols for wireless communication.
? Automatic detection and classification of blood vessels and mucus filled airways in
images of lung.
? Text extraction from Ez-Gimpy an image with distorted text on a textured background.
