Used GIS technologies and multilevel statistical models to help develop new methods for
examining sociospatial patterns of inequality and isolation, and their effects on health,
crime, and
related outcomes. Collaborated with scholars from sociology, geography, and statistics.

Content-coded US state rape statutes from 1976 to 2011 using Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, and
State
Session Laws. Constructed variables capturing rape law characteristics, such as marital
rape
criminalization. Quantitatively analyzed rape law variables using cross-sectional, pooled
time
series and event history methods.
