For more than 10 years, since my honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, I ve worked as a

writer in both full-time and freelance capacities. Here s my resume, complete with contact

OBJECTIVE

To work in the publishing, print or radio media, using the experience to further myself

professionally as a journalist, columnist, blogger and eventually as an author.

WORK EXPERIENCE

2006Now: Blogger. Besides blogging for Bleacherreport.com and Americasteam.info, I

maintain several blogs: Richard Zowie (my life and thoughts as a writer); From A to Zowie

(the official blog of my From A to Zowie column); Richard s Two Shekels (the official blog

of my Richard s Two Shekels column); and Ponderings From Pluto (my satirical news blog).

2000 Now: Journalist. Currently, I work as a reporter for the Genesee County Herald. I

have worked as a staff writer for the Oxford (Mich.) Leader. I also have worked as a

freelance news and features writer and photographer for the Flint Journal Community

Newspapers, including Clio Messenger, Flushing Observer and Davison Flagstaff. Currently,

I am a freelance writer for Illinois-based Recreation Management magazine. Have also

written news, feature, sports and editorials and have taken photographs for several Texas

and Michigan publications including the (Lapeer) County Press, San Antonio Express-News

and San Antonio-based Prime Time Newspapers. As a civilian journalist working for military

newspapers, my work has also appeared on Air Force News.

November 2009 Now: Fuel clerk, Kroger fuel center. I work in a kiosk and process

customers transactions for gas, diesel, automotive supplies and other items such as soft

drinks and tobacco. I also do cash reports and input fuel reports and surveys into a

computer for company reference.

2000 Now: Columnist. I write two columns: From A to Zowie, which is my views on current

events, politics, social issues, sports and anything else from A to Zowie . This column

currently appears in the Beeville (Texas) Bee-Picayune, the Genesee County Herald and has

appeared in several other publications. Richard s Two Shekels deals with Christian issues.

It has appeared in the San Antonio Christian Beacon, Saworship.com and in other

publications.

June 2000 June 2007: Broadcaster. Have worked at Gospel 1230 WMPC, Lapeer, Mich. and in

San Antonio at News Talk 550 KTSA, AM 630 KSLR and AM 930 KLUP. Duties have included

running a control board, working as a disk jockey, recording news broadcasts, playing

programs, making on-air announcements, call screening and guest hosting live talk shows.

June 30, 2003 Nov. 18, 2003: Production analyst. Welder Exploration and Production,

Inc. Responsible for maintaining paperwork on well files along with filing daily, weekly

and monthly reports for various oil and gas wells across south Texas.

1996 2000: Russian language voice interceptor. United States Army, San Antonio, TX.

Cleared for top secret information and granted access to sensitive compartmented

information by the Department of Defense, based on a single scope background

investigation. Two feature articles published in Globe magazine, the official publication

of Defense Language Institute in Presidio of Monterey, Calif. Military service contract

ended on February 21, 2000.

AWARDS

Michigan Associated Press Top Contribution, Dec. 2006, Story of a man charged with a

triple murder; Honorable Mention, April 2007, Story of a girl who made a dress out of

candy wrappers. Honorable Mention, May 2007, Story of a man being convicted of the triple

murder.

Air Force News As a journalist, several pieces of my work have been reprinted on Air

Force News. Stories have included features on a Korean War pilot, a former Vietnam War

prisoner of war receiving his finis flight at Randolph Air Force Base, a profile on

glaucoma and a column regarding the death of my cousin at the hands of a drunk driver.
