WORK EXPERIENCE
Proctor & Gamble Company Boston, MA 2005 - 2011
Senior Researcher: Mechanical/Electromechanical for Advanced Manufacturing
Technology Group
Collaborated with Engineering and Implementation Group and developed state-
of-the-art proprietary assembly machines. Improved existing equipment.
Researched and reviewed technologies based upon current and future
production requirements. Used CAD and prototyping equipment: Bridgeport
millers, Hardinge lathes, surface grinders and other various shop tolls to
create testable prototypes for futher evaluation. Evaluated and
demonstrated manufacturing feasibility and technical justification for
design approach. Conducted design validation and reliability test.
Maintained comprehensive documentation of complex design and testing
activities.
Significant Project Experience
Electromechanical Reject Station
Designed, developed and implemented electromechanical device to reject
individual razor blades in a continuous process. This device was capable of
rejecting single or multiple blades that were deemed non-conforming, which
contributed to higher production rates and less scrap.
Spool Fed Tufting
Designed, developed and implemented a robust process for handling multiple
filaments, which were inserted into a spool fed tufting machine. This
process paved the way for manufacturing several new products in the manual
oral care toothbrush category. Process was patented: US Patent 7217332b2
May 15, 2007.
High Speed Battery Assembly Machine
Designed and developed a process to manufacture intricate hollow spheres
made of two part polyurethane used in a patented high speed assembly
actuator for use in a high speed battery assembly machine. Actuator was
patented: US Patent 7471019b2 Dec 30, 2008.
Gillette Company Boston, MA 1999 -
2005
Polymer Process Technician/ Mechanical Design & Testing Technician (R&D)
Boston Research and Development Group (Boston, MA)
Gillette Advanced Technology Center U.S. (Needham, MA)
Responsible for all research, review and analysis for projects. Supported
the mechanical Oral B, Duracell & Gillette blades and razors groups with
innovative new product
concepts for the industry. Conducted research and development on polymer
processing, building technical depth in material selection, and design
criteria for consumer products.
Participated in the identification and development of new technology,
product concepts and relevant product applications. Worked in development
teams to introduce new materials and process technology. Developed
specification guidelines for product design and development. Researched the
status of recycled materials suitable for inclusion in the company product
line. Identified potential suppliers. Determined the quality of their
materials, and ascertained their ability to provide sufficient quantities
to timely meet production requirements. Ensured consistent supply of all
materials and equipment, as well as, training and upkeep necessary to meet
requirements of the R&D laboratories.
Gillette Company Boston, MA 1997 - 1999
Maintenance Mechanic
Responsible for 12-14 injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
Performed mechanical, electrical, (24v or less), hydraulic and pneumatic
troubleshooting. Repaired and replaced defective parts. Installed special
functional and structural parts in devices. Tested numerous devices for
performance and ensured proper corrective actions were taken. Set-up
material handling systems, grinders, end-of-arm tooling, material driers,
conveyors and auxiliary equipment. Adjusted and repaired machinery in
designated work areas. Monitored and performed necessary repairs, and
recorded all changes. Completed preventative maintenance requirements.
Precise Technology, Inc. South Grafton, MA 1996
- 1997
Production Supervisor/Process Technician
Supervised and led a team of 24 people in the execution of daily production
tasks, work scheduling, training, machine maintenance and continuous
product improvement. Problem-solved to develop corrective actions for
customer issues. Coordinated tooling and equipment availability, repair and
maintenance. Ensured staff maintained a safe work environment within
molding and assembly department. Responded to problems by providing
corrective technical and mechanical solutions. Maintained positive employee
relations and adhered to Company policies, safety standards, and good
housekeeping practices. Coordinated maintenance and repair of tools and
equipment with in-house tool room. Implemented and managed maintenance
functions, including preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on
all injection molding and assembly equipment.
