Managed a three shift operation of Betty Crocker Frosting products and simultaneously served as START-UP
DIRECTOR of a new line of frosting products from October, 1994 through April, 1995. Responsible for three-shift
operation with 50 nonunion Operators (Packaging and Process), 18 Mechanics, 2 Engineers, and 2 Team Leaders.
Annual volume of 8 million cases.
• As Start-up Director to Betty Crocker Whipped Deluxe frosting, project was $1M under budget and 4 weeks
early.
• Received General Mills Champion Award for this project implementation.
• Proposed consolidation of excess capacity frosting systems into Cedar Rapids at a cost savings of $1M/yr.
• Decreased hold order cost of non-conformance by more than $100,000 during one fiscal year through the
process of continuous improvement.

Temporary assignment while the Department Manager was on a special assignment. Managed this High Performance
Work System which included engineering and maintenance as well as production of a 3 shift operation.
• Initiated cost savings project to bring multi-component cake production into Cedar Rapids from a contract
producer.

Responsible for packaging and process teams in Frosting, Bacos, and Pop Secret. Responsible for 40 nonunion
Packaging and Process Operators and 6 Mechanics.
• Decreased clean up times on Pop Secret lines by 50%.
• Led a committee that implemented a Pay for Performance incentive plan for the wage employees in the Cedar
Rapids Plant of 700 employees.
