Steve Allen
Florence, KY ***42
I believe my formal education as a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Business,
along with my practical experience with an industry leader such as The Hennegan Company, have
effectively prepared me for a position within your company. My widespread duties in the fast
paced environment at Hennegan have placed me at the center of everything from customer
service before press, to sales at press, while evaluating color adjustments and assuring customer
satisfaction.
I have nearly twenty years of experience in the printing industry, with over ten years of
management and supervision experience with Hennegan. While at Hennegan as a Prepress
Supervisor I have served at night. This has required me to execute multiple responsibilities.
Because of those expanded duties it has enabled me to develop my skills beyond managing a
highly skilled work force and prioritizing a time sensitive workload. It has allowed me to work
firsthand with customers as they request changes to their projects either before press or while on
press. My background and expertise with color in particular have enabled the Hennegan
pressroom and sales staff to utilize my skills while making color adjustments on press. The
reputation for quality that the Hennegan customers require and the Hennegan staff demand of
themselves have ultimately shaped my own definition of craftsmanship that I shall carry with me
through out my career.
In addition to my communications qualifications within the printing industry in particular, please
consider my ability to inspire and motivate subordinates among my strengths as a manager.
Whether working with technically skilled craftsman with more senior experience or entry level
employees, I believe in creating an atmosphere of teamwork that fosters greater efficiency and
greater productivity. This inclusive management style allows employees to take ownership of
their own success that ultimately leads to the firm’s success. Working in a creative trade such as
printing and prepress has allowed me to develop the type of critical decision making process
required by companies in any trade or field, especially those having a national client base such
as Hennegan.
Beyond my managerial and communication background I would ask that you consider my
willingness to travel or relocate among my qualifications for a position with your company.
I look forward to hearing from you to discuss the possibilities of bringing my services to your
company. Please call me at 859-***-**** to arrange a convenient time when we may meet to
further discuss my background in relation to your needs. If you are unable to reach me personally
by phone my email address is ******@*****.***.
Sincerely,
Steve Allen

Career and Background:
In many ways I was destined for a career that would begin in printing. After enrolling and obtaining a
Bachelor's Degree from the University of Cincinnati I began my work experience at the ground level.
My father was a pressman and my brother was a conventional stripper before starting his own color
separation business. I was invited to begin my career with my brother not as a manager but as a laborer.
Beginning as a deliveryman and custodian before being needed to proof and compose conventional film
projects. As my brother’s business grew, so too did I, first as a Hell Scanner Operator and then as a
Scitex color retoucher and page assembler. My background in color theory would eventually lead me to
assisting with color okays on press at Hennegan and Mosaic Print. I have ultimately amassed a 20 year
history in the business including over 10 years in management in Union Shops. My education combined
with my experience in this fast paced environment, in addition to my working alongside many high
profile clients has prepared me for a position in this and most any other field.
