Qualifications Profile

Highly creative environmental engineering professional seeking a position in a growth-oriented organization requiring innovative skills in handling/developing chemicals and background in research, designing and improvement of chemical or biological products and renewable energy recovery processes.

? Environmental Engineering: Developed and constructed a pilot-scale wastewater treatment system in Beaumont Municipal WWTP (250 gal/day, including biological treatment, clarifier, chlorination, and nano-filtration / reverse osmosis purification processes) which could directly convert municipal wastewater into potable water (based on U.S. EPA standard). This system has already been used in U.S. Army.

? Chemical Engineering: Developed a pilot-scale renewable energy recovery system (500 gal/day, biogas recovery from paper mill residuals) adjacent to MeadWestvaco’s Evadale, TX, paper mill, working with chemists and control engineers to ensure the unit operations, design feeding and reactors through kinetics study, and system troubleshooting.

? Process Design: Provided engineering supports in two major projects listed above such as Aspen simulation, biological mechanics (lab-scale study), HAZOP analysis, modeling establishment, data statistics calculation (using Minitab), QA/QC and results presenting/reporting.

Employment History

Research Assistant, 2008-present, Water Engineering Lab, Lamar University, Beaumont, TX.

? Joined the team work and finished two major projects: “DAAB system” which is mainly supported by U.S. DOD and collaborated with Beaumont Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sam Houston State University; and “Evadale paper mill” which is collaborated with MeadWestvaco Corp., VOW resources and Zera Energy.

? Analyzed the effect of trace pollutants residual (pharmaceuticals and personal care products) in wastewater matrix through High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) in bench-scale batch, CSTR, and PBR reactors.

? Simulating the reaction processes of Beaumont municipal wastewater treatment plant, and constructed a bench-scale model (2 gal) of synthetic wastewater treatment.

? Breeding aerobic and anaerobic bacteria for lab-scale kinetic study and plant usage; also did the PCR amplification, DGGE analysis and DNA sequencing investigations for matured bacteria.

Lab Assistant and Operator, 2004-2008, NanoLab, Shanghai JiaoTong University, Shanghai, China.

? Synthesized a series of Prussian blue nano-crystals and Lanthanon Hydroxide nanorods/nanowires with various size distributions (5nm – 250 nm) through hydrothermal and micro-emulsion reverse micelles techniques respectively.

? Combine nano-sized materials (mainly metals) with polymers (PVA/PS/PMMA/PAN…) through various pathways to manufacture nano-composites, and investigate their optical, magnetic and rheological characteristics, and synthesized a nano-sized Fe/Co core-shell structure and analyze its magnetic properties.

? QA/QC, instrument management and troubleshooting. (mainly for TGA, XRD and TEM).
