Software Engineer

Department of Parking Services,

University of Toledo, OH. Aug’98 – Jun’99

Environment: Oracle 8.0, Developer 2000, Designer 2000.

Developed an application for the Department of Parking Services, Univ. of Toledo. The

application developed is useful for issue of parking permits to students, faculty staff and other

customers, and collection of fines from the violators, generating warning reports, validation of

parking permits etc. This application is a 3-tier architecture with Java web server as the web

server and Oracle as the database server.

Office of Registration,

University of Toledo,OH.

As a member of a core team developed an application for online registration in which the

system takes care of all aspects like registration, updating, insertion and deletion of student

records, viewing the student grades etc. With this application the student can register the courses

for either the current semester or the following semester for which courses are offered, his grade

history and his financial aid information. The responsibilities included in developing this

application were design and development of database schemas, developing front-end screens

using Java swing, generating reports through the parameters passed from forms using JDBC

connectivity.

Lakshmi Banking Systems, India. Aug’97 – Jul ’98

Environment: Oracle 8.0, Developer 2000, Designer 2000.

Responsibilities at Lakshmi Banking Systems included developing an application of 2

modules, the Employee module and the Customer module. This application automatically

calculates the interest depending on the account type, generates periodical reports for the

balances and all the transactions are immediately updated. Worked extensively on the

implementation and maintenance of banking application. Developed application logic, constructed

an Entity-Relationship diagram that normalized the relations, Developed GUI screens, PL/SQL

procedures and functions, worked on Data Reports, carried out documentation for the concerned

modules.

Academic Projects:

Address Book: Developed a Personal Address Book in Java. The project involved

accessing an Oracle database using JDBC. The GUI was developed using the JAVA

Swing classes. The user has the option of viewing any particular record by making a

selection from a choice Box. The user also has the option of adding new records,

updating records and deleting records. This involved retrieval of data from the database

and also writing data into the database.

Text Editor: A simulation of Text Editor using Java Programming was developed. The

user interface is developed in Java Swing. This editor has all the traditional features of an

ordinary text editor such as accessing the local file system and performing operations on

them using menu bars, menu items etc.

Client-Server Chat System: Developed a multi-threaded client server chat system using

data structures in “C” Language. This is a full-fledged client server system using TCP/IP

to send large packets of information. Designed and developed classes for server side

and client side networking. Implemented a multithreaded server that can connect to any

number of clients.
