Mercy Health Plans, St. Louis, USA Mar 2004 – July 2004
Data Warehousing Project
This project involved the conversion of their existing system to a QNXT (QCSI’s healthcare
management application) compliant system with out losing their existing data. This project also involves
the development of a data warehouse so as to facilitate the generation of analytical reports. The three
main areas of development were in ETL (Extraction, Translation and Loading), Interfaces and reports.
In the ETL phase, the existing system was studied and with our in depth knowledge of the architecture
of QNXT application and its supporting data model, the required translations were developed.
Interfaces consist of basically 2 types viz. inbound and outbound. The inbound interface can read data
from a text or excel file and depending on certain conditions specified by Mercy, updates the new
database. Outbound interfaces, creates file in various formats, which may be required by Mercy’s
partners or by the Government for various purposes.
The reporting consisted of creating both analytical and transactional reports. Analytical reports are
generated from the data warehouse. Where as the transactional reports are created from the
production data.
Role:
Interfaces: created 4 interfaces and the associated documents. Interfaces consisted of both types.
Reports: Generation of 10 transaction reports.
