Prepare reports for upper management on various topics/issues about the business.

Manage all aspects of day-to-day operations of a large retail store.

The rollout of all corporate programs were completed correctly, on budget, and with in the allotted
time frame.

budgets organized and current on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
Employment History
Kmart Corp. /Sears Holdings Corp. 1981 to Present
Managed four “Big Box” stores in three different states. Responsible for all aspects of the business
from Human Resources (average employee count was 90) to expense control. All of these
locations increased in sales and profit during the years that I was assigned to them.
District Manager in five different markets - each with 10 to 12 stores and approximately 1100
associates. Two of these districts were problem district when first assigned to them (SE
Pennsylvania & Philadelphia). Recruited new management for these stores and trained them so
that they would be successful in their position and the stores would be successful as well. These
stores all improved in sales and profit the following year.
Put together a program to recruit hourly full time and part time associates in a market where
unemployment was below 3%.
Was the District Mgr. for the Gulfport, MS. area in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina struck.
Responsible for assessing the damage and rebuilding the stores. We were the first “Big Box”
stores to reopen.
Managed all aspects of opening four new stores as a District Manager.
Human Resource Experience
Developed a program for in store “Job Fairs” to recruit new part time and full time associates-this
process is still in use today.
Set up process to ensure all annual appraisals were completed on time in every store.
Trained dozens of managers and asst. managers on how to properly complete an annual appraisal
so that the associate being reviewed would understand how they could improve their performance
in a measurable manner.
Facilitated numerous training meetings on HR topics such as Investigating Sexual Harassment,
Violence in the Work Place, etc.
Handled, investigated, and resolved many employee concerns/complaints as a District Manager.
