WORK HISTORY__________________________________________________________________
TheaterXtreme, Rogers, AR November, 2006 – March, 2009
Owner
TheaterXtreme is a home theater sales and installation company. After working 20+ years for Wal-Mart, I
decided to take the leap of faith to start my own business. As owner, everything that happens with the store is
my responsibility. Although working in a sales oriented environment was new to me, the first year in operation,
we achieved $400,000 in sales. Unfortunately, due to the poor economy, we had to close the store.
Wal-Mart PMDC, Bentonville, AR October, 1985 - February, 2007
Operations Manager
My entire career at Wal-Mart was at PMDC (Printing and Mailing Distribution Center). I served as an Operations
Manager for 7 years.
The first 2 years, I was responsible for the Non-Print side of the PMDC operation, which consisted of the Mailing
Department (basically Wal-Mart’s Post Office), the Bindery Department and the Warehouse Department. A
major accomplishment during this time was successfully streamlining ALL mail and shipments coming in to the
th
Wal-Mart home office area after “September 11 ”. Up to this time, all the surrounding facilities received their
own UPS and FedEx shipments directly. Due to the importance of ensuring all packages were safe to receive,
all mail and shipments were directed to PMDC to be scanned and distributed. The total transition period was
one week, and required communication and cooperation between all facilities.
The last 4 years as an Operations Manager was served on the Print side of PMDC, which included the Offset
Department, Silkscreen/Flexo Department, Prepress Department, Printshop Department, and PMDC Express
(satellite department located within the home office). The major accomplishment during this time was the
justification, purchase, and implementation of the label presses in the Flexo Department, which became the
primary driver of sales at PMDC.
Department Manager
I was Department manager, at separate times, over 3 different departments.
I began my management career at Wal-Mart as Department manager over the Silkscreen department, which
consisted of 2 shifts, 1 manager beside myself, 2 hourly supervisors and 25 hourly employees. During my time
in Silkscreen, our expense to sales ratio was always one of the best in the facility.
After 10 successful years in the Silkscreen department, I was moved to the Offset department. My primary
objective, besides maintaining a good P&L, was to boost overall morale, which had been very negatively
impacted by the former leader in that area. After 2 years in the department, a heightened level of trust had been
re-established between hourly employees and the management team. During that time, I was the first manager
in many years to receive acceptable surveys from the group.
After Offset, I was moved to the Bindery department, the largest department at PMDC. The primary objective
accomplished was breaking the "$2 million" sales month for the first time. Since then, there have been multiple
$2 million sales months. After 1 year in the Bindery department, I was promoted to Operations Manager.
Kentucky Fried Chicken, Bentonville, AR September, 1979 - October, 1985
I started at KFC while still in high school and continued 3 years upon graduation. My biggest takeaway
was learning the importance of providing good customer service, which has remained with me to this
day.
Shift Leader
As Shift Leader, my primary role was to be the “go-to” person in the absence of the Store Manager and
the Assistant Manager. Duties included opening and closing the store, taking care of the cash receipts
at the end of the day, communicating sales numbers to Corporate, and managing up to 4 employees.
Cook
My first “real” job. Responsible for food preparation and clean-up at the end of the shift.
