Electro Motive Diesels is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of locomotives engines and locomotives. The
engine capacity ranges 4000 BHP to 6000 BHP. Annual sales are over 1.8 billion with 3500 employees. Major
customers are Union Pacific, CSX, and BNSF. Processes employed are machining, welding, painting and
assembly. The company is ISO 9001-2000 and ISO 14000 certified. Position agenda breakdown includes:
New Product Team: Plan and co ordinate supplier quality activities related for new product launches by
developing quality plans.
Production Part Approval Process: Responsible for all aspects of Production Part Approval Process for
new model locomotive engine parts. Approved 15 PPAP submissions from suppliers.
Corrective Action/Problem Solving: Direct and co ordinate cross functional corrective action and problem
solving activities related to suppliers. Ensure that all activities are implemented in a timely manner by
conducting supplier on site audits.
Continuous Improvements: Develop and maintain system of tracking key indices relative to product
quality for the purpose of prioritization and elimination of quality problems.
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis: Leader of cross functional FMEA team tasked with development of
FMEA plans for new products. Working on 3 FMEA activities for new products.
Control Plans: Responsible for Creation and maintaining of control plans detailing quality control activities
and their relationship with casting, welding, machining and injection molding processes.
Manufacturing Work Instructions: Responsible for creating & implementing step by step work
instructions explaining process parameter & requirements for given product. Have helped at least 5 suppliers
